I feel the same. I plan to check both forums every day, keep my guard up, and collect the haremite email list.

People aren't pleasant when cornered. And the problems will arise again if the admins have a vision of how things should be that we don't fit into.

I would rather stay someplace where we don't cause that level of conflict.

I just hope that our tendency to flit in and out of KD doesn't sour Moggy's warmth.

It might be a pipe dream, but I'd like to see us all in one place, so we don't have to shuffle around from site to site. I love KD, but to be honest I'm more at home at CoE - even with all the kerfluffles.

I'm following the Ask the Mods thread closely, though there haven't been any posts in the last two hours. I'm under the impression that Rosie G's post was what did it. And now Melkor's trying to apologize in his clumsy authority-seeking way, but he just doesn't know how, and the fact that we're all still angry with him isn't making it any easier.

(Not saying we shouldn't be mad - we have every right to be mad.)

What I'm getting at is that I do think Melkor's on the right track. It's just that it's hard enough, and humbling enough, for him to have to take back everything that he said, and have us angry with him and unwilling to trust. He's saying, "Well, I messed up, so I'm sorry, but don't-forget-that-I'm-still-in-charge-and-you-still-have-to-respect-me!" But that's Melk for ya. I'm going to take what I can get here.

And so what if some people don't like us? The impression I'm getting is that we're going to be left alone. Hopefully.

I really hope I'm not just being overly optimistic here.

Anyway, let's not make any decisions as of yet. Let's give it some time. I'm waiting to see how the reception is over there in the next couple of days.

Having checked out Ask the Mods, the Harem at CoE, The Harem here, The Garden at CoE, Bagshot Row at CoE and The Goonies here I am running out of time to post. I am worried that both sites will run in parallel and I will end up having to choose one and loose some wonderful friends. Pearl is posting at CoE but not here yet tonight (and it's midnight for us).

(((((((Narya)))))) ((((((((Opaline)))))))) (((((((Ghyste))))))) ((((((((QS))))))))

((((((Rosie)))))) it's my e mail that is giving the problem. No time to get it sorted at the moment.

(((((((Queenie))))))) I love that choice of picture

(((((((Ariel))))))) thank you for reposting Sorry... I showed it to Idril and she was ROFL

(((((((Chica)))))) ((((((((Ele))))))) (((((((((DW))))))) ((((((Mel)))))) ((((((((Anais)))))) ((((((((Ezzie))))) ((((((((Elenillor))))))) (((((((Goldie)))))) (((((Spork))))))

((((((((Bridget))))))) (((((((Elwen)))))))

((((((J-Girl))))) ((((((Moggy)))))) ((((((Loon))))) ((((((Lyric)))))))

soon the everyone is feeling a little breathless from all Elenya's hugs

Now who have I forgotten? oh yes

Hey, ladies!!!

Just thought I'd drop in to let mel know that Melkor asked for input specifically from her:

I don't know if you care, mel, but just thought I'd let you know, in case you'd like to respond to him.

Oh, I hope we can all resolve this soon... I'll never last checking up on two forums...

Whatever happens over at that other site, I think I'll be checking in here more often. Especially if Chica and Mel are moving in !

This whole tempest in a teapot has a strange inverse correlation to my RL. Yesterday I was the 'tempest': Laid into a colleague whom I despise for his arrogance, self-centered nature, and his treatment of our mostly female support staff. Sweet little Goldie indeed, hardy har har! Hell hath no fury, etc. etc.

THEN I came home to learn that the tables had been turned, and the arrogant etc. etc. so-and-so's had unleashed a tempest upon US!

My head is spinning. I need a good dose of Frodo. And you lovely lasses.

The pic above originally appeared in Brian Sibley's "Official Movie Guide." I adore this pic, always have, but it has never turned up anywhere online that I've ever seen. JUST THIS VERY MORNING, for some reason I thought of this picture and said to myself, "Gee I wonder if anyone has ever scanned that picture. I sure do wish someone would post it in the Harem one day."

And here it is.

Funky, huh?

Thanks Queenie!

(Just look at how lovely his hand is in this picture. This picture was an inspiration for the "Kitchen Table" bit I wrote so long ago. If you can look at this picture and not want to sweep everything off that table...including big stoopid Ring...and climb up onto it and then......and then......and then......and then...oh darn, no "cigarette-smoking" smiley!)

Edit...let me wrap this up (thanks, Queenie!):

and then....

Edit: Spork...the Monty Python Killer Bunny? Does it come with the vicious Chicken of Bristol?

I haven't been on anyone's e-mail list (until Rosie asked for them and I sent her mine yesterday) - but if there's been an interesting group e-mail discussion going on regarding the shape and fate of the universe , I sure would like to have listened in! 'Course, if it was private, I'll put my nose back on my face where it belongs and take it out of other people's business...

Hi, ladies! My thoughts as of tonight are over on the Sticky on the Mall forum page. Didn't want to put them here.

Queenie, I had no idea Bernard Hill was in *Scorpion King!* I might have gone to see that movie if I had... There was a time when I just adored all that sword and sorcery stuff. Adored it. Snake cults, steely thews, dim but hunkly barbarians, bosomy maidens in black leather Daisy Dukes--that was the world this one-time little meek librarian lived in in her mind. I didn't discover it until well after I had read LotR 50 times, snorted up all the other fantasy I could get my hands on, and the only writers left were Robert E. Howard and Clark Ashton Smith and some other guy whose name I can't remember. Then I found I had a real pervy appetite for it!

Unlike slashfic, which I never touch, oooooh no, wouldn't go near it, wash-my-mouth-out-with-soap for thinking about such a thing!

Elda, I was going through my image files last night and discovered I had scanned that very picture myself! I suppose my intention was to post it in the Harem, but I hadn't and still haven't figured out the web page thing. Soon, though. Faramir just bought me a new hard drive--30 GBs suitable for filling up with downloaded trailers and Fropics and endless croppings and experimentations on the b&w. Yay!

Anais, I want to BE one of those cookies on that table.

--edit--Narya, the email-o-rama basically started up yesterday morning (while I was at work, natch )--did Rosie forward enough to bring you up to speed? PM me if you haven't seen my blatherings on the matter and would like to--or anything else. I tried to save it all and move it to a separate folder in my inbox.

Oh these pics are too much, and right on the heels of the trailer! What are you trying to do to me? It's succeeding.

Spork and Anais, I bought the second Harry Potter book today, and it's all your fault.

And Elda, I also bought "The End of the Third Age", and that's YOUR fault.

Lastly, I bought "The Oxford Book of Sonnets", and that's Frodo's fault. This goes ever so nicely with the piccie Elda just posted:

Thy cheek is pale with thought, but not from woe,
And yet so lovely, that if mirth could flush
Its rose of whiteness with the brightest blush,
My heart would wish away that ruder glow:--
And dazzle not thy deep-blue eyes--but oh!
While gazing on them sterner eyes will gush,
And into mine my mother's weakness rush,
Soft as the last drops round heaven's airy bow.
For, through thy long dark lashes low depending,
The soul of melancholy gentleness
Gleams like a seraph from the sky descending,
Above all pain, yet pitying all distress;
At once such majesty with sweetness blending,
I worship more, but cannot love thee less.

---George Gordon, Lord Byron

Yup. Although I know the line between each will be drawn differently for all of us, for me there are three main categories. There are pictures that induce only the loftiest 'isn't he an angel' swoon...

and others that bring on the 'oh my poor baby let me comfort you and make it all better' swoon...

and others that positively invite the 'he'd better be able to run faster than me or he isn't gonna be sweet and innocent anymore' swoon...

Ohhhhhhhhh! I love that pic Elda posted! And I needed some swoony pics!

You know when you get in "a cleaning mood" and you like, drag everything out of your closet and reorganize it? Then you clean everything off/out of your desk and dust and clean and reorganize and alphabatize your Cd's and...

...anyway, that is the sort of mood i have been in. It's 4:15 a.m. and I am finally getting tired. Of course, I have created a big mess because I am not finished! But I will tomorrow -- I mean -- later today.

What was the point of this post anyway? OHHHHHHHHH, yesssssss. That piccy! SWOON!

Oh, and if you have not seen Gladys' post in Ask the Mods at CoE Fandom, do go read it. Her insights IMO are spot on, and I (for whom understanding behavior is just as important as the behavior itself) found it very very interesting.

p.s.(Narya and Queenie - I added you both to the list, but your email is bouncing back to me. Could your mailboxes be full?)

I'm here. If Mel and Chica are going to stay here, I will definitely be paying more visits.

I told the KD Goonies that I needed a big hug from dear Samwise ... ... and that I would love to get my Haremite mits on his doe-eyed, dark-curled friend too.

Pearl gazes dreamily at Narya's last picture. Just keep on unbuttoning, baby ... keep on unbuttoning ...

Pearl's eyes glaze over. She imagines running her hand over that expanse of silky skin.

Pearl passes out at the thought.

Nothing like a dose of Frodo-lust, oops I mean noble devotion to Professor Tolkien's chaste and radiant hobbit-hero, to make a girl feel better.

Good job I'm not preaching any sermons tomorrow.

That really really hurts. Nothing against Mel whom I am sure would have good suggestions...but I have been suggesting a forum change since this whole thing began...were all my posts skimmed over and not read? Mel mentions it once and then he wants her input....but not mine??? If he had said "Mel and dw" it might have been different. Its like I don't even exist or something...

More and more I am tempted not to go back over there...

Hi, dear Haremites!

I got here safe, and probably will stay!
Pictures are so beautiful!
Can anyone tell me where is Ariel's story? I heard quite a lot about it, but I have a difficulty finding it.

(((((((Love and hugs))))))

Ellin.

P.S. Sorry, I can't write anything intelligent I have to sign off!

Hi, (((((Ellin!))))) Glad you made it!

Go back to page 22 for Ariel's story in its entirety. And, um, don't be drinking anything too near your monitor screen when you read it. You might laugh so hard you need to get out the Windex... or equivalent product where you are...

TH, I don't think you were at Imladris when the wonderful Aiya (known here as Ar-Feiniel) produced a heart-stopping Frodo photo montage to go with the lines of that very sonnet. Can you believe it?

I'm so glad you bought "The End of the Third Age." The evolution of character and plot is completely fascinating. Just yesterday I was reading Tolkien's early draft of "The Scouring of the Shire," and came across a wonderful, utterly swoony description of Frodo as follows: "Suddenly he shone, a small gallant figure clad in mithril like an elf prince." Sigh!

Rosie, I am in full cleaning mode today, too! And not a moment too soon! If I let this place go any longer, the health department would show up.

Hi Ellin! Glad you made it home safely!

((((((ELLIN))))))!!! I'm so happy you found your way here.

Ariel's story starts at the top of p. 22 in this thread. Although it was double-posting it's kinda nice to have it all in one place to find easily.

dw, this should probably be a pm, but there might be other people with the same reaction -- I'm sorry that The Powers That Be at CoE only asked for my opinion. Especially because I'm not interested in helping any more. Back in January, during the first flap I remember, I wanted to help them understand. Now I'm just sick of it. It sounds to me like he's throwing down a gauntlet, and I'd rather just get on with talking to my friends here than keep fighting the same battle over and over again.

But feel free to give him your input if you want the CoE forums to work, by all means!

It's really funny how my reactions to Frolijah are totally hormonally-dependent. I shoulda known that I was pregnant when I suddenly couldn't set a clock based on my desire to look at pictures/read fan fiction/whatever!

I'm glad Spork's non-sequitors are going to be here!

How the heck did Lord Byron get a picture of Frodo, anyway? He was, like, really dead before Tolkien even wrote the book, right?

Does that mean there was actually SOMEBODY ELSE WHO LOOKED LIKE THAT at some point in history??

Weird, weird, weird.

Mel
