Hallah, it was such a treat to have you in chat last night! I hope you'll stop by more often.

Elda, I so love that story. The ending is gorgeous. I swooned.

Carly, it's good to know the Lasses are here too! Now we're all getting settled in. Who are we missing? - The Faramites and the DSG thread? And - we're also missing Gorbag! I do hope he'll come visit us here in our new home.

Ariel, I'm waiting...

In Our Story, right about now the hobbits are sitting around the fire with Aragorn listening to the story of Beren and Luthien. It looks so angsty outside where I am, too - barely dark, with gray clouds on the sky, and geese flying past in long lines.

Queenie, isn't it odd how much Frodo looks in no way like Elijah? It's so amazing that they're the same person. I swear he channels Frodo, and in doing so, becomes him -- in a way that trandscends physical appearance. Dude.

Elda, I said it about 3 hours ago, but I'll reiterate it: :notworthy

Hi Haremites!

Haremites chorus, "You here again?"

Anyone here who is interested in the Faculty should check Melkor's latest post to the Fandom Ask the Mods thread, and my response. I'm being a good little rule follower there, insofar as I am capable, but I dunno what y'all will think of it anyhow. If I understand Melkor correctly, (big "if", I know), the Faculty can survive there roughly intact. Whether that's what the members will want to do, I dunno.

Hi, Chica!
Prim mixed you up with Bridget the other day. She fixed it, though.

I'm glad to see this place getting back to normal.

I just finished up a huge dinner with many glasses of wine (New Zealand Chardonnay!) and I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy. And I'm watching the DVD, since it's October 6 and all. Frodo is just about to unbutton his shirt. Oh MY!

You know, the "Council of Elrond" scene was just on and when Frodo says "I will take it," I find myself distractingly torn between admiration of his almost-blind bravery and the overwhelming desire to French him until he passes out. Or I pass out. Or we both pass out.

I'm glad you all liked the story...although I wrote it months ago, it does dovetail nicely with that wonderful, shiver-inducing shot of Frodo and Sam in the new trailer. Damn, but I love 'em both.

Warm, comforting thoughts for all on this October 6, angst-ridden in so many ways. I love you broads.

Hmmm.....

Well, I saw in that response some of the exact same attitude I got earlier this year in the flack over the chatroom business. Condescention and sarcasm - and I anticipate you will have that again, sooner or later even in the Faculty moved to the Fandom thread. I think it would be better off here, but that is just me. It's a good thread and an asset to where ever it is located, but I just have a hard time imagining that it will not continue to be targetted. For all Melk SAYS he is trying to do, I still believe there are certain posters he just doesn't think are 'their kind of people' and they want them gone. If you guys stay, more power to you, but I think you are going to find the going quite rough sometime again in the future.

remember me?

hey girls!

as i saw the new TTT trailer last night in the theater, i recalled you ladies fondly and thought i should say hello... however, to my sorrow, i could not find imladris.

so i came here... i recognize many of you and i hope you're all doing well. i haven't been around because i've been insanely busy, and have had little access to the internet as well... but now i have a bit more time so perhaps i'll happen by more often!

i hope things are well. love you all.

Cheers!

Blinks and rubs eyes...

Cindy! It's so nice to see you!

Imladris has been obliterated, but rose again from the ashes in the form of a website called Council-of-Elrond.com, but without getting into it there's been a lot of drama there lately and the Harem has pretty much relocated over here. I hope you'll stay a while! The Squire's missed you.

Oh, crikey! I hit the link Spork put up, without quite remembering what it was about (the reference was on the previous page) and as it was taking forever to come up, I minimized it. Like 10 minutes later, this music starts pouring out of my PC! Scared the daylights outta me! Finally found the minimized window, and watched the video. Oh, my! Alan Rickman rocks!! Tango-ing in a gas-station! We're gonna need an ash-can just for our undies soon!

Elda, read part 3. Add my kudos to everyone else's! Lovely! Ah, Sam, Sam, Sam.... Frodo, Frodo, Frodo.... Those two are gonna slay me!!!!

And fruitcake. So much *not* a part of my heritage! Should I say thank goodness?

Hugs to all (off to finish proofing, uh, something!)

Just a bit o' business, ladies .... What should we do about our 'sometime' posters? I noticed Cindy's post at CoE tonight and PM'd her, but I would imagine as the weekend winds down, more folks will begin to show up again .... do we PM them *all* to let them know where we are, or should we wait for them to ask, or what? The Harem's so gabby, it might take awhile for folks to figure out something was wrong ....?? Especially since it looks to me like several of the other Fandom threads are going to try to make a go of it there again ....?? Or am I getting ahead of myself here? Please let me know ....??

Elda's and Anais' comments reminded me -- this weekend, hubby and I will be in a little cabin in Montana for a meeting he's attending -- he'll be gone all day one day -- so the plan is to bring the DVD and the DVD player and I may just sit and spend the *whole day* luxuriating in FotR and our Squire! I've yet to really utilize all the 'slow' buttons etc. on the remote for the DVD yet, but have been assiduously taking notes!

Cairi drags her bags into the new digs and looks around for some familiar faces. Spots several friendly faces and runs up and delivers hugs. Then spots Frodo and runs and gives him a kiss and a hug. Puir dear - it's been a rough day for him and the Harem.

I am so tired I could drop in my tracks. The Board Development seminar I attended today was very good, but after an extremely busy day yesterday (a whole weekend worth of work jammed into one day), all the anxiety of the last few days, four hours of sleep last night (I got up early to work on what I told Melkor I would give him today), and then a full day discussing Policy Governance issues, I'm wiped.

Does someone want to come make my bed? My sheets are in the dryer, but I don't have the energy to get them back on the bed...

I just had to stop in and say I love you all!! (And you too, Frodo, but you know that, don't you? )

Elda, re Fro-frenching: what Anais said (Thanks for reposting the story. Sigh....)

Mel, the One Fruitcake! ROTFL

Hey, EliyaKirian, I never got to wish you a happy birthday. So HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Heeheehee!

Meryl beams at her sisters as one by one, after a busy day of unpacking and bustling about, they gather at the kitchen table for a late bit of supper with the Squire, who by the way, despite the date, is looking quite content. The hearth fire crackles, the tea is hot, the bread is fresh, the honey warm and sweet. And somehow a bottle or two of Old Winyards appears on the board, and glasses and mugs are raised in a spirit of good cheer and sweet anticipation. Here's to us!

Okay, everyone has to go to Queenie's link and watch the Elwood-to-Frodo morph. I've always said that Frodo doesn't look like Elwood, but THAT is just eerie. It ain't just the wig, ladies.

Cindy! Welcome back!!! You still working on those Fro-clones for us?

Elda suddenly realizes how much "Fro-clones" sounds like "Sno-cones" and how yummy-yummy-yummy and slurpable Sno-cones are and and so there's more in common between the two than just the way they sound and...

It is awfully late isn't it?

Hi Haremites

Elda - so you're the one who wrote *October 6th*! When I read the story on FF.net a few months ago, I knew the author had to be a Haremite. Don't remember if I reviewed it there or not... but that last chapter especially brought me to tears! I'm such a sap for Frodo and Sam fics. Beautiful and moving..

BTW, which Led Zep song are you quoting in your sig? Should know it, but just can't think...

Hi Chica!

Poor little Frodo has been in my thoughts all day. Is anybody else frustrated by the fact that Gildor and Co. never give Frodo a straight answer when he asks about the Black Riders? He was too innocent and sheltered. If only the elves had told him what the Riders were, and why he shouldn't put the Ring on in their presence, things might have turned out differently. Or at least, if Sam had known, he could have held Frodo's hands to keep him from putting on the Ring...?

*sigh*

A very different story it would have been then, of course...

Ariel - very much looking forward to your story.

Bethel shuffles out of her room, looking dishevled and exhausted.

I just wanted to tell Elda how wonderful her story was. Thank you, Elda.

Today was actually a gorgeous autumn day. Not 80 degrees in October, just the way I like it! It'll only get better from here. The days will start to become crisp and the scent of wood burning will waft through the air. The sky will become bluer and the leaves will soon fall.

And then.. after all the leaves have fallen and the first snowfall has graced the frozen ground.. Need I even say it? I don't want to start anything too loud this late at night.

But I will say that I realized that the extended DVD is next month. Next month. I'm so used to thinking that it's in November, way in the future, a few eons away. Not anymore!

Anyway.. the Squire has promised to rub my temples as this headache will not go away. Good night, ladies!

*Merf peeks around the corner*

You know, I realized that I had never visited any of the incarnations of the Harem before. I wanted to drop off some Brandy Hall Hugs to you all after a very stressful weekend.

I love all the pensive pictures of Frodo...I never realized how looking at a still could motivate me to think and write until I started looking at LoTR stills. I have always been shy about focusing stories on Frodo or discussion Frodo, because I wonder if I'll have anything to say that hasn't been said. However, that's probably not a good attitude to take, since I don't know what the "literature," as it were, on Frodo includes!

Anyway, I'll probably be mostly a lurker, but I am resolved to try and keep up with you ladies, so I can get more insights on Frodo, and hopefully be able to include a better characterization of him in my stories.

I have to confess myself amazed. I had never heard of Alan Rickman before "Die Hard", and didn't know anyone else fell for him the way I did in that movie. He was perfection in that role, as Elijah was for Frodo.

So much so that I don't really care to see him in anything else. (That makes me the kind of fan no actor wants! ) But I could watch that movie a million times, and he is one of the reasons. Actually, I'm about half-way there now. I never met anyone else who cared so much for it, Spork. Given your attitude about the Rickman, I assume you agree that it was a sensational movie, unmatched by the two follow-ups? Thanks for sharing! It sure opened my eyes!

And I'm still not off-topic here?? This place must be over the Rainbow!

Thumbs up

(((((TATA!)))))

YOU GO GIRL!!!

Tata, my new hero. The new super Banned-it.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Ezzie grabs the snagged Merfy from Spork and a tug-of-war immediately ensues.

Ezzie: Brandy Hall!
Spork: Bag End West!

Ezzie: Brandy Hall!
Spork: Bag End West!

Frodo and Merry both watch the commotion, then turn around and step out for some Mob Nog and a beer, hoping Merf isn't left with dislocated arm sockets...

Tata, "The Blob" is what my husband and I decided to call the baby-to-be after seeing the first ultrasound pictures. The technician told us which part was the head and which part was the rear end, but I sure couldn't tell them apart. Since it's rather blurry and is just beginning to develop distinguishable body parts (well, at least to the woman doing the ultrasound), we decided to call it The Blob.

I'm afraid I've never actually had real, homemade fruitcake, just like I've never been in therapy. I only do parodies about things I don't really understand. Which is probably good, because LotR parodied as plate tectonics would be absurd, not to mention incomprehensible.

I couldn't help imagining what if Sauron decided to take over the world with unperishable foods, though...

Three Ding-dongs for Elven Kings under the sky
Seven Hostess cupcakes for the Dwarf-Lords in their halls of stone
Nine Twinkies for mortal men doomed to die
One Fruitcake for the Dark Lord on his dark throne...

I am really liking it here. I love being off-topic.

I think pm's directing people here are probably ok, as long as (a) you aren't banned, and (b) you don't bad-mouth the CoE mod squad in the process.

Mel

Hi everyone!!
I was just over at CoE and it was so incredibly quiet.... very eerie. It is nice to see so many familiar names here.
You know, I'm starting to feel kind of bad.... When I first posted at the Garden the site crashed... no more imladris.... Then I posted over at the Harem and everybody disappears... I think I'm starting to see a pattern here... and developing a complex too.

I haven't had the time to read up on everything that is going on, so is this going to be the Harem's official home from now on? I may not have contributed very much before, and I'll probably lurk here for a while... (I'm a bit hesitant to post... you never know, the site could disappear ) but I do enjoy reading your posts and seeing the pics.

Lately I've dreaming quite alot about EW and Frodo. Pearl... I hold you responsible for this... THANK-YOU.

Lots of Love
Elfhoney

Oh Mel: The Blob!!! :rotfl: You rock, girl (pun intended)!

I was just thinking: If Frodo had hidden the Ring in the One Cheesecake, he would have been rid of it, AND Sauron would never find it. But then there would be no Harem, so I suppose it's all for the best.

What constitutes post-s____ing at KD? I need to get to the magic 30 posts so I can get my lovely glowing-blue-eyed avatar back. Then I'll be all moved in.

Chica, you ought to post those passages from the Scouring of the Shire here. Also at the Other place. You know of what I speak! That was brilliant.

And just because I've missed this little guy:

{{{Haremites and Harem-friends}}}

Elfhoney and Merf, glad to see you've found us here!

Mel: 'The Blob'-- lol!

Re: unperishable foods. The orcs would be using cans of things like baked beans and mushrooms to hurl at us. And that One Fruitcake..

Have a good day, ladies.

EDIT: I miss Gorbag!

Awww... Elfhoney! Really, you had nothing to do with all this mess! It's really just a better fit here, I expect - and besides - Moggy is going to be amazed when he sees how much additional traffic his site begins to get.

I don't know if I have mentioned this to the group, but I have recieved two emails from complete strangers that I had 'run into' on other Tolkien sites I frequent. Both were from people who knew about the harem, read the thread and liked it but did not post... one of them was not even a member of either Imladris or CoE. Admittedly, these were only two emails, but I wonder if there are many more people who were reading our thread who may have felt the same as these ladies but never bothered to write? There is also the factor of our views/post ratio - something like 25 to 1? That had to come from somewhere (and it was obviously NOT from the rest of the CoE site, considering how little they seemed to understand us).

I gleaned from these emails that the harem and the ladies of it were more well known than any of us realize. It may be that we are famous (or infamous!) in many corners of the Tolkien world! I only hope that we can find some way of either directing those people who like to follow our tales and posts to this site or, barring that, have a separate public page for our site that directs people here. I hate to think of all of our 'fans' not being able to ever find us again. There, you see? Fame has at last gone to my head!

Elfhoney, I'm so glad you found us. Dreaming of Frolijah, eh? Wow ... I never do. Daydreaming, YES.

Well, geez, they shoulda posted then, shouldn't they?!

But you have my curiousity piqued, Ariel. Was one of your strangers called Siena? She was a long-time lurker who came clean to me about her Harem lurkdom at TORC, of all places, where she knew me as Di of Long Cleeve. She only posted once in the Harem.

I've been in touch with the Door Orc, Bethel. I am sure he will look in sometime.

Let me quote mel: I love being off-topic!!!!!!!!!
