oh Peachy...I have had time now to catch up a bit on the thread, and your Harem history is CLASSIC!!!!!!!
Excellent job, as usual!

Stormy....So glad to see you back, dear!!!! We have indeed missed you greatly!

Garden Well Grown(aka A Fireside Song from Fro to his Lasses)

My fortune bright, oh can it be
But a garden of flowers has conquered me!
Each one a beauty and well blessed,
With curling locks and heaving chest!
Of wonders merry they daily sing,
Their gifts of love to me they bring.

On Tol Eressea, sacred realm
Beneath the linden and the elm
Such love unheard of I have known
The fragrance of a garden well grown.

I wake each day amidst a dream,
An answer to my prayers they seem.
And how they've come I cannot tell,
But here they be and all is well.
Rescued from my life so chaste,
Now from honeyed lips I taste!

The singing of the Sun and Moon,
Could ne'er produce a sweeter tune!
Such love unheard of I have known
The fragrance of a garden well grown.

I spend my days in dizzied haze,
Bespelled by each enchanting gaze.
O'ertaken by my heart's desire,
And in my garden quench such fire.
Ahh with my lasses by my side,
Forever in BEWTE, I'll abide!!

To Eru sweet I sing my praise,
An ode to these the gifts he gave.
Such love unheard of I have known,
The fragrance of a garden well grown!

Frodo never comes to a fireside sing along unprepared!!

LilyLilyLilyLilyLilyLily!!!!!!!!!!! ****bouncing***

The songbook arrived today, and it is the most splendiferous wonderful amazing gorgeous creative love-filled funny angsty....***deep breath***...thing.

I really like it. Thank you EVER so much!!! (So much talent gathered together in one place - to all who contributed their amazing abilities to it - it is a treasure!! )

It's really nice to hear from the campers - y'all better check out how prolific the virtual campers were while you were gone! Didn't we just have a 10,000 post party? How the heck did we get to 10,350?? It's been a lovely lovely week here in the Harem - which is very good, because RL sucks hard. (Two more days from hell, and then holidays!)

Ghyste -

Arryle - wonderful! I do well-grown gardens!

I could use some good Harem vibes sent my way tomorrow - I'm playing my piano exam, and despite the fact that it will make not one whit of difference to all the important things in my life if I pass or fail, I am unreasonably nervous about it. Just figures - academic exams don't phase me, and this one has me losing sleep... Tala - would you send a little of your musical genius my way? Just for the morning?

I plan on immersing myself in some serious Frodo once I am on holidays - and in some raunchy Frodo, and some tender Frodo, and some angsty Frodo, and some gentle Frodo, and...

just two more days just two more days just two more days

Yes Queenie, Ghytse's vignette was awesome! So are all the others.

Today I found about about a site called About.com where they need editors for a multitude of subjects. Wanting to be a healthcare writer I applied for Health topic but then made a bee line for the "L's" and wouldn't you know that "Lord of the Rings" was taken! And so was Aragorn under "A"s....

To top it off, they didn't even HAVE a listing for Frodo or Hobbits!! Hmmmmph!!! I wanted to suggest those as a topic but there was no way to do so. Don't get me wrong. I loooove Aragorn but I loooooove Frodo more and if Aragorn deserves his own page of writeups than so does our Frodo!! If I can figure out a way I will suggest a page on Frodo and volunteer on the spot

Narya, I wish I could take credit for that term, it was coined by an LOTR loving friend of mine, who called herself a corporate orc.
She no longer uses that term to describe herself, however. She took a lovely severance package and now works closer to home for a MUCH smaller company, for less pay, and is in utter bliss.
LOL at your new sig BTW

It's good to hear from some of our Camping Haremites ... someone was asking how long the Camping Hoot was going to be, and IIRC, I think it runs through this weekend?? But folks are popping in and out as schedules allow for the week.

elanorh brings the resident nervous corporate orc () a tray ... with a bouquet of sweet peas from the garden, and some fresh strawberries (also from the garden), and rich dark fudgy brownies..... Good luck with the music exam -- you're going to do fine, I just know you will.

I'm liking Daisy's avatar -- this is a pretty recent addition, isn't it?! I don't remember it from before....

Still keeping my fingers crossed for Ellin and her dissertation status.

I watched a video of Joseph and the Amazing Technicoloured Dreamcoat yesterday. So I Frodofied the song Close Every Door, for Frodo in the tower.

Close every door to me
Hide all the world from me
the one Ring has seized me
And forced out the light

Do what you want with me
Hate me and laugh at me
Darken my daytime
And torture my night
If my life were important I
Would ask will I live or die
But I know the answers lie
Far from this world

Close every door to me
take those I love from me
to be a Ringbearer is to be alone!
but I hope I shall find
My own peace of mind
For this quest is breaking me
And I am on my own.

Close every door to me
Hide all the world from me
chained to the darkness
my soul strives to fight

Just give me a duty
and scorch it with pain
I took on this burden
Why should I complain?
I do not matter
I'm only one hobbit
Destroy me completely
Then throw me away
If my life were important I
Would ask will I live or die
But I know the answers lie
Far from this world

Close every door to me
Take those I love from me
to be a Ringbearer is to be alone
oh, I hope I shall find
my own peace of mind
For this quest is breaking me
And I am on my own.

Am visiting my Legolass friend tomorrow to watch the FOTR DVD again. She's seen it 22 times. I have some catching up to do.

Peachy - This song has so much meaning for me. I have loved this musical for years and first saw it off Off-Broadway with David Cassidy as Joseph, and have seen it several other times since then. Your words fit the mood and song perfectly.

Todd Eldredge skated it as an exhibition skate at the Nagano Olympics in 1998 when he came in 4th, just missing out on a medal...you could see the anguish in his performance. He was dressed all in white and it was extremely powerful. (Todd also skated his long program in Salt Lake City in 2002 to the FOTR music...we were at that performance with a sign saying "Todd Eldredge: Lord of the Rings"

This song just brings home the anguish Joseph must have felt having been rejected by his brothers and being thrown in prison. You have captured this anguish perfectly for Frodo as well. This is really awesome....I wonder if you can get permission to get it published somewhere.

A heartfelt thanks from me for writing this particular version.

Peachy, I agree with EvFro; I love Joseph! And what a wonderful filk! It amazes me how you get the rhythm just right, Bravo Peachy! Do some more!

Oh poor Narya the Corperate Orc!That's a funny term hehe.
(((Narya))) Here're some good vibes for your piano exam!! They are very scary, I speak from experience, I took piano for 3 years when I was a kid. Never again!

Yes Elanorh, I just got enough posts for an avatar- but making avatars is really fun, so I had a whole bunch lined up. It was so hard to choose, but I like this one. The avatars you all have here are so pretty, there was a lot of pressure!

It's nice to see some of the campers popping in! Though it does make me a bit concerned for when they all come back and it gets noisy again here...

((Arryle)) That campfire song is beautiful!! I loved it so much its indescribable!! I can just picture Frodo sitting by the fire, with a guitar (or some other more hobbity instrument) singing softly. Aahh that's nice...I have my happy thought for today.

LOL! I thought it would be quiet here over the last few days and I logged on thinking I'd read through all the posts in half an hour, but WHAT a wonderful few days I've missed. The virtual hoot here has been fantastic and there's so much wonderful stuff to read. I'm afraid I've been neglecting the thread - enjoying the mini heat wave we've been having. True Tol Eressea weather. No more sitting in the sun for me ... not since I feel right through my deckchair and got trapped - thank Eru no-one else was about. Talk about undignified - it shouldn't happen to a Haremite!

(((Peachy))) I really don't know what we did without you. LOVED the Hobbit / Harem vignette. Especially funny for me, as I'm writing a frustrating weighty fic at the moment about Frodo and the genesis of the Harem. Loved the Joseph song too. I had my first crush on an swoonsome actor in a local production of Joseph - I think it was the loincloth! [

((((Spork)))) I can't believe that was your first vignette. Yummy
I've never eaten a toasted marshmallow, let alone licked one from the mouth of a certain Hobbit...

Congratulations on your one year anniversary Narya and good luck with the piano playing

((((Arryle)))) That campfire song was absolutely beautiful

And STORMY! so nice to hear from you again.

Have you ever gone away for a few days, and come back to the Harem, to find that you have so much to reply to that you know you need to block out some serious time so you can say everything you want to say? Whereas you find yourself posting in other threads, because you know you only have a few lines to get out?

I have soooo much I want to reply too, but I simply can't right now. Hoping to have some time later this afternoon or early evening to do so.

In the meantime, I do have one brief message I need to get out. I am going to be burning off more copies of the Harem Campfire Songbook cd, and I need to know who would still like a copy. Apart from those who received copies at the camping hoot, I have also sent copies to Narya, Quicksilver, Cairi, Peachy, Rosie and Stormy. If you requested a copy here in the thread a while back and didn't pm me, most likely I didn't write it down at the time , so please please please forgive me and pm or email me with your address so I can send you your copy. And of course the same for anyone else who would like a copy as well--just send me your address. Please don't worry about the postage. These things are very inexpensive to send, even overseas, so don't give it a second thought.

And I've cleared out some room in my pm's, but I am a bit of a pack rat, so if it doesn't go through, please email me at hobbitlass@hotmail.com

You are all so wonderfully creative, it makes my head spin!

Great to hear from the Campers! And to think you're just a few miles north of me enjoying the woods and stars and each other's company . . . Sigh!

Speaking of stars, Sam already has one, you know, named Harthad Uluithiad (hope that's spelled right) by HobbitsRule. And he has a companion that I like to think represents Frodo. Of course these two are not visible to the naked eye in the Real World, but from BEWTE I'm sure they would shine brightest in the heavens.

Lily, are you able to make extra songbooks for those that won't be at the Hoot in July? I would be happy to pay you for cost and shipping.

Please let me know on here or PM me.....or, if these are for the KC Hoot, could you just give an extra one to Queenie for me....then you won't have to worry about shipping...Thanks!

I'm sending along a very special pic of Frodo with Queenie that will be the model for my fall costume that I would love for you all to sign.

Thanks!

Back from piano exam. Next time I feel I need to OD on adrenaline, I'm just going to jump out of an airplane. What is it about playing in front of people that is so hard???? Between my hands shaking and sweating, I'm sure the poor piano thought it was raining. (36 post-secondary exams under my belt with minimal nerves, and I got into a veritable tizzy about playing the stupid piano. )

Played my songs reasonably well, flubbed on some of the scales and technical stuff that I KNEW - which ticked me off. Don't know if I passed - hope I at least squeaked by.

But it's done, and I'm a day and a half away from holidays, and the chance to work on a long angsty post-quest fic that I've had underway for a while, and to sleep, and go for a two day hike, and garden, and sit on a bench under a tree and read a book, and forget both corporate orcness and piano for a while.

(((((Harem and associates))))) for always being there.

Narya, I'm sure you did fine....I bet you're just glad its over now.

Peachy, I just rewatched Todd Eldredge skating to "Close Every Door"....wow.....You captured the essence of the song so well....at last at the end Joseph could have peace of mind knowing that "the children of Israel had been promised a land of thier own."

But poor Frodo...you captured his sense of hopelessness in those last two lines...

"For this quest is breaking me
And I am on my own"

Tala, I would *love* to hear you sing this sometime!

I wore this album out when it came out...have got to get the CD.

{{{Stormy}}}, as if you had to ask!

EvFrodo, I so wish I could see that ice routine. They only appear around here during the Olympics on TV.

Narya - Frodo singing! To dream, perchance to swoon...

Edit: Ellin, I'm sure Frodo will give you an oral exam.

Oh, and (((Daisy))), please don't relurk. It's fun in here when it's noisy! I delurked when the gabbing was deafening!

Pressie from Jesus Christ Superstar, (I Only Want To Say). Set at the Council of Elrond.

I only want to say
that I don’t know the way
but I will take this Ring with me
though I don’t want to taste its poison
feel it burn me
I have changed, I’m not as sure
as when we started
Bilbo’s tales inspired
Now I’m sad and tired
Listen, surely I’ve exceeded expectations, fought that shard fourteen days
Feels like thirty, feels like thirty
Could you ask as much from any Elf or Man?

But if I try, see the saga through and do the things you ask of me
Let them hate me, hit me, hurt me, please the Enemy
I’d want to know, I’d want to know Elrond
I want to know, I’d want to know my lord
I’d want to see, I’d want to see, Elrond
I’d want to see, I’d want to see, my lord
I’ve said I’ll try
But won’t it be more dangerous
Than it ever was before?
Would the things you’ve said and done
Matter any more?
I’d like to know, I’d like to know my lord
I’d like to know, I’d like to know my lord
I’d have to see, I’d have to see my lord
I’d have to see, I’d have to see my lord
If I die what will be my reward?
If I die what will be my reward?
I’d have to know, I’d have to know my lord
I’d have to know, I’d have to know my lord

Why should I try? Why should I try?
Can you show me now that I won’t take this Quest in vain?
I’ve seen just a little of its misery and pain
I know there’s a reason for you wanting It to die
But you’re not too keen on where or how
Just pretty hot on why
All right, I’ll try, just watch me try!
See how I try! Just watch me die! I’ll die!

Once I was inspired
Now I’m sad and tired
Though I’m come of age I
Feel like ninety
Why then am I scared
To finish what I started
What He started
I didn’t start it
Lord, thy will is hard
But you hold every card
I will face a sting and poison
Fling me on a stone and break me
Bleed me, beat me
Kill me, let me take it now
Before I change my mind.

Peachy, actually that's exactly what this was...a tape of the exhibition skating from the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics in Japan! I had it set right to Todd already

And a couple of people have told me recently that they saw my Todd Eldredge - Lord of the Rings sign at the SLC Olympics last February during the men's long program when he skated to FOTR. It was on bright yellow paper...anyone else see it? I didn't realize it was shown on TV but two ladies in our Northwesternesse group said she saw it, or saw one anyone...wonder if it was mine. I had done it in block letters so it was hard to read (dumb) and I had the olympic rings on each side

Oh My! Oh! My!

I'm supposed to study here, Peachy!

(((Love the song)))

EvFrodo - I think I saw it on TV too! I wasn't watching very carefully then, but it seems to me that I did see it! Although, I was crossing my fingers for someone else... I'm a huge fan of figure skating!

(((Love to all))))

Back to work...

[i]Oh...Come over here, Frodo, dear!!

Don't wish for eternal love. You might get what you want. You won't like it, trust me.
Oh, my emerald, my green star,
Dimiaris, where you are?!

OFF TOPIC: Fan girl mode ON
Liked Donny Osmond's rendition of Joseph
(my thing for Donny goes way back to when I was 10 and OBSESSED with him.)
The highlight of my childhood was seeing the Osmonds concert at the Salt Palace in SLC in 1971.

((Peachy)) I was actually quite close to relurking there, thank you for pulling me out of it, Peachy!
Y'know, I've been meaning to watch Jesus Christ, Superstar again...

Queenie! Donnie Osmond! His is the best, we have the video! Anyone who disagrees can answer to us!

Ellin, glad you hear your disseration went well! Good luck on the exam!
And I hate living so far away, too, then again I'm so "new" I couldn't go to a hoot anyway!

Yay, Narya survived! These things are so subjective, really, I never understood how they could give marks out for them! And my teachers were always quite mean, but we won't get into that.

Hi Aisling! (who has my favourite avatar!)
And Lily! (Keeper of the marvelous songbook!)

Tala has reminded me that we haven't had a swoony pic of the Squire himself for quite a while now! Here's an old one, firelit for the camping trip, naturally!

edit: I had to attach it when I realized I have no idea where to get free image hosting anymore
