Glad someone had a relaxing day, Hewene. I really shouldn't have to work this hard in this heat. Nearly 11pm and I'm still sweating, and work is stretching before me until at least midnight.

Just popping in for a FroHuggle to keep me going.

(((((Pearl)))) thank you for reposting Elda's lovely vignette.

Hot, hot, hot

HEWENE!!!! MWAH!!!!

(Why don't my local Wal-marts have any good LotR stuff?)

It was 106 here yesterday; as I shared over on the Marem Hoot thread, a series of explosions started spontaneously at a propane gas distributor about a mile from my house. "Blowed up real good," as they used to say on SCTV. The fire fighters dealt very skillfully with something that could have been really awful, and the power was out for an hour at our house because the flames had fried some power lines, but thank Eru, not one person was injured. More excitement than fourth of July for awhile, though.

Today it's a chilly 99.

Meryl, thanks for the link. Here's a very Haremy excerpt from shirebound's report ...

Ben Hawker (SFX technician) brought out a lady dressed as a hobbit lass, and proceeded to do a quick “furry foot job” on her. He said it took the four hobbits 40 minutes each, every morning, to have their feet put on.

Hey, I'd like Frodo to give me a "furry foot job", wouldn't you?
And then I'd give him one. And lots more besides. *Giggles*

The folks on stage decided that the lady hobbit had to be inspected by a real hobbit, and onstage walked Dominic Monaghan, wearing a grey sweatshirt with the word “Bro.” on it, patched jeans, and red shoes. He looked like he hadn’t shaved in about a week. THE AUDIENCE WENT WILD. He inspected the lady hobbit’s feet, then made a comment about how all hobbit ladies were very buxom ...

Hobbit ladies are very buxom, yay!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Meryl, for that interesting report from Shirebound! I can't wait for pics to show up from Comic Con. I love Dom's quote! Click on Shirebound's LJ for the whole thing! I feel validated!

Meanwhile...this newly-made cap-maven is just dropping off this tasty tid-bit.

Here's a likely candidate for Haremite fountain bathing in KC:

http://www.kcfountains.org/find_fou...tain.asp?FID=39

It has a statue of Diana. Nice waterfall behind it for fro-licking.

Yes, you are not mistaken, I am up at freaking 4am! Supposed to be running a stupid mainframe computer connectivity test for work... starting at 2:30 am. Only no one validated that the system that we use to *communicate* with the mainframe that we are testing would be up! Geez, seems it's normally down on Sunday mornings until 6am! So we've just been hanging on for the last hour and a half to see if they can expedite bringing that system up. They won't admit we should just can the test, and re-schedule. So once it gets to be 4:30, the point at which we have to stop testing, they'll admit we can't test, and I can go to bed. Until 6:30 am, at which point I'll have to get up *again* and verify that they successfully UNDID what they changed (what we were supposed to be testing) and so we'll have to test this all on Aug 3 when the change was supposed to happen, and then do a THIRD weekend for the actual change. I LOVE MY JOB, OH YES, I LOVE MY JOB.... They owe us *so* big time for this!!! (Yeah, like I'm gonna get any compensation for this... ) Pardon my bitching and whining.... I'm not a morning person.

The good news is that I was able to look through all 160 fountains on the KC City of Fountains site

Hewene

edit: Oh, lovely, now they're extending the window to 5:10 before they decide to can the test or not. I will get *no*sleep tonight... (this morning?) gods this sucks...

Oh, and Happy Birthday, Talagawen!!!!

*** Happy Birthday Tala!! ***

Hewene, NObody is a morning person at 4.30am. Eeeewww.

Spork, thanks for the tip on the marshmallows. I’ve had some for weeks and not bothered lighting a fire, but the stovetop worked nicely.

Glad you’re enjoying P&P, Catta. I prefer it to Emma as well.

BTW, all these cooking innuendoes are completely disgusting. Am posting a nice wholesome recipe for Sticky Buns, to prove MY mind never wanders.

Sticky Buns

Ingredients
1 three-foot hobbit
1 Haremite
milk
icing sugar
butter

Method:
Lightly grease hobbit. Combine Haremite and milky Frodo until Haremite is frothy.
Sift flour and icing sugar onto hobbit, rub in butter. Cover hobbit, stand in warm place until hobbit is doubled in size.
Add Haremite and enough water to make ingredients cling together.

Roll hobbit on floured surface until of desired thickness. Knead buns gently; cover for 30 minutes.
Place buns on greased tray, cover loosely with lightly oiled plastic wrap, stand in warm place about 10 minutes or until buns are well risen.
Bake buns in 250 degree heat.

Icing: Beat Haremite with spatula until soft peaks form; gradually add hobbit, beat until dissolved. Spread on buns. For best results do not squash or flatten buns, but shape with fingers. Bake in very slow heat for one hour or until firm.

Happy Birthday Tala

Just taking a break from staring hopelessly at my suitcase and the rather larger pile of things that need to go into it. Perhaps if this particular hobbit lass was a tad less buxom her clothes wouldn't take up so much room. Le sigh.

(((Narya))) Hang on in there.

Peachy - I didn't get any further than "Lightly grease hobbit".

Swoon...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TALA!!!

Hugs to all the steamy Haremites. Surely this hot weather could prove disasterous especially when combined with a certain wet hobbit? Thanks for sending the sun over here though. I'm still avoiding man-eating deckchairs....

Peachy! LOL ... I'm frothing...

Went swimming this morning for the first time in years - so nice to feel light and floaty - except no-one told me swimming on your tummy might not be a good idea when you've got a baby bump. Very wet Hobbitlass...

Happy Birthday to Talagawen, the Musical Haremite!!!!!!

I've kept your alternative version of Track 8 on The Two Towers soundtrack, Tala. The one where we imagined we were with Frodo ... rather than the music being about Arwen.

Still maintaining your high standards in the Lust Palace, I see, Peachette.

Gorb! Where've ya been? C'mere. (Pearl hugs Gorb).

((Aisling)) See you next month, broody bunny.

Ghyste will soon be off to KC ... sigh!

Happy Birthday Tala!

Did Tala go to comic-con? She goes to lots of west coast events... She's the Haremite-most-likely-to-get-a-hobbit's-autograph.

It just amazes me that the studio known for stuff like Freddy vs Jason gave PJ the chance to make three LotR movies. I wonder what previews we'll get this year.

So is the whole planet hot this week? We got into the upper 90's, which are record high temperatures here. (And 18% humidity, which feels sticky to me after living in the high desert for three years... but they still say the trees are drier than kiln-dried lumber, and every lightning strike seems to start a new fire.) We're going to deal with it by going up to tree line to look at the wildflowers. It ought to be in the upper 70's or so up there, I'm guessing.

Mel

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TALAGAWEN!!

***RotK Preview Spoiler***

Grey Pilgrim at COE had this to say after seeing the 3-minute RotK preview at ComicCon:

Frodo laying down on the ground on his back. He is still in hobbit clothing but is severly worn out and looks like he has been in a mojot fight. The audience gasped as the image was played on the screens. The burden of carrying the ring is going to be heavy on Frodo and we are going to witness this in the next movie!

Frodo and Sam struggling through desolate land scape up a slope covered with dead bushes. This is shot where we can only see them from the rear. My first impression was that this was as they struggled across the Morgai Plain. Since the shot was from the rear I could not verify the clothing each wore except it seemed they were still wearing their elvish cloaks. So I am thinking this might be as they approach the Morgul Vale and the stairs to Shelobs Lair.

For the whole report, go here

Peachy, just reading the ingredients makes me frothy!

Tala, I know it's your birthday and happy birthday and all but you must never, never, ever, never, never again put the word "Elijah" in great big letters into a post like that, because when the page came up, and that was all I saw, before I had a chance to read your whole post, the jealousy-hit to my poor, frazzled system knocked about 10 years off my life.

I am very sorry you didn't get to go. And now you must go and pump your friend for details. And pictures.

Meryl, those spoilers made me twitch. It's only 150 days to RoTK. Is it too early to start wringing my hands and whimpering?

And I'm very glad Peachy cleaned up the place with a nice, wholesome recipe. Thank goodness someone around here still values good, clean fun. In fact, I think Peachy's Sticky Buns should replace cheesecake as the Official Harem Snack.

For once, everybody else is sweltering and NYC is cool. In fact, it's been so mild that yesterday, I heard the first cicada of the year, something you usually don't hear until August or so. Made me think of fall, and September, and all sorts of angsty Frodo thoughts...and it made me think of last year's god-awful, endless winter, which was the desperate inspiration for the Naked Napping Frodo vig that Pearl re-posted. I've always been a "winter" person, but summer is really starting to grow on me. Especially if it encourages hobbits to shuck their drawers and sprawl on white linen sheets. Mmmm....

One who dearly loved him,
For all who dearly loved him, Frodo the Halfling fair.

Happy birthday, Tala!

It's been a sweltering week here too, it's still very hot and humid, and we've had a truly spectacular thunder storm. In a part of the world where heating normally is what you need, and not a single home has AC installed. White cool sheets with honey-and-cream hobbit would be just right for the heat of this current night.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TALA!!!

awww Tala I'm sorry you weren't there to meet Elijah ...who knows...maybe in February in LA...you, me ..others?

I hope you have a great and not too hot a day and enjoy your presents from last week's hobbit party....and an afternoon down by a cool pool with rushing falls and drops splashing like rainbow colors with our dear Squire...just you and him ....followed by some time in the woods on a swing

Here's a good picture to start the imagining with

Love
