Since we're posting art and all, I went all over the web to find this painting since the link from the first site I found it on didn't work. No Haremites, but fresh off writing another Young Frodo fic, and reading Baylor's gorgeous "Marbles and Slingshots," this just tugged at my BabyFrodo lovin' heart.

Let's call this Primula and Frodo by the Brandywine, 1370:

He embraced his friends there closely, whose love could not be marred;

for the friend who dearly loved him,
One who dearly loved him,
For all who dearly loved him, Frodo the Halfling fair.
--Alfred Noyes, reinterpreted by Peachy

Wow! I realized that I just had missed the whole first part of Europanya's posts this morning...thanks for whoever posted the link "start at this page" so that I could go from beginning to end.

What I want to know is, whatever happened to Leah??...if Europanya is about fainting and on cloud 9, I would love to hear Leah's account first hand of her "close encounter" with Dom!!!! Does she post on this forum?

And just a wondering.....I know if anyone wins (not to mention the movie itself) at the Oscars (Sean, Andy, Viggo, EW) whoever, they may have to go some VIP party but being the way they are with the fans, I have heard that they'd rather go where the fans go (well maybe not Viggo, I know he keeps to himself)....does anyone have an opinion as to whether they *would* show up at the LOTR party and be with the fans? I am so looking forward to this party and would just love to even get a glimpse of him. Some gals from our Northwesternesse group got their picture taken with Andy Serkis last year.

Thank you so much Europanya for sharing your experiences with us

Oh, where's that ::jawdrop:: smiley?!? You've really got his autograph on *that* picture? That picture! ::Swoon! Envy!::

Nothing "probably" about the frenzy state though; - reading Penn's and Sharon's reports last night induced a sky-high-frantic-frenzy experience if *ever* there was one!

Now that I am more or less able to communicate in other ways than squees and squeals and meeps and gurgling OMG's, I'd like to thank you more coherently for sharing all that with us, Sharon. You have many gifts: Not only have you seen the Eyes and the rest up cloooose, but your wonderful lively write-up made me really feel that I had experienced all of it right there with you. I'm so happy this happened to you. I'm so happy you shared it with us so vividly and emotionally and in such happy detail. Thank you!

Gorb is discovering his inner Haremite. (Pearl knows that will wind Gorby up. ) There's a good Orc to bring us presents! Have a cookie!

GHYSTE!!! Give my love to the US of A, and to Ele. Glad you arrived safely.

Tata, I like that picture of me in the Harem very much. She does look like me a wee bit.

(Pearl has to remind herself that she is not really Pearl Took in RL. This is all fantasy. This is all cyberland. The Harem is ...

well, I said at the Camping Hoot that the Harem is cyber-sex. )

Oh, Elda! Baby Frodo and his mum! Pearl melts.

Hey, I wanna go to ComicCon!

Snort? You want to know if his eyes are that blue? Honey I saw them coming at me from 60 feet away. All I saw were EYES! YES they are that blue. And YES his skin is that pale and flawless. I think he's one of the few celebs who are actually MORE gorgeous in person than on screen. I just about combusted, he's so beautiful he's painful to look at, not that I was going to turn away at all!

And YES he's a total sweetheart because I got to watch him just pal around with Sean and Dom, no cameras, no fans, just them. And that more than anything was such a joy to see. They all love each other so much. He and Dom have a college-guy best buddy kind of interaction, whereas Sean is clearly the big older protective loving brother type. And Elijah, he just loves everything and everybody. Like I said. A puppy. Excited curious, polite as all heck and sincere, they're all so sincere
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

<>EUROPANYA</>
I didn't think it was possible for me to love Elijah any more than I do already but after reading your report I think I actually do - it has confirmed for me that the impression I've gained of him from all that I've seen, heard and read is actually completely correct - right down to the excited puppy-dog behaviour and the loving everything, everybody. And what occurred to me is that because he is such a happy, bouncy individual - how much more amazing that makes his portrayal of Frodo's angst and anguish. I hope that makes sense - its very late here and after reading your wonderful report my ability to articulate seems to have vanished. But, thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou

Still looking for Penn's report - is it here or elsewhere?

HOBMOM - you are a wicked woman!! That Fro pic you posted at 8.03 on the 20th is the most lust-inducing thing I've ever seen

I really really wish I could have smelled SOMETHING from either of them because they were all so close I could feel the transient heat off their little bodies. But, nah, no particular scent. Darn it. It was really really hot and humid, too. You'd think there would be something wafting around them. Sigh. No smells ladies.

I wanted to add about our little puppy lad, that now that I've met him in the flesh, I am 10 times more impressed with his protrayal of Frodo. Because bouncy Elijah is so not that quiet brooding character he produced for the screen. I've have no idea where all that stillness and gravity came from other than the simple answer of: TALENT.

Whooo. He floors me.

Wish I was in Kansas City. Will someone please visit some wagon ruts for me? Please? Pay my respects? And then eat a big-ass steak, on the rare side but not too rare, with mushrooms.

Not British, except maybe in my heart of hearts, but I know the answer. It's a penny; the abbreviation is from the Latin denarius.

I know this 'cause it was in Falstaff's bar tab in 1 Henry IV...

Personal note: So far my holiday's been a dud. Started losing the vision in one eye on the weekend- thought it must be something minor. Saw an optometrist yesterday, who sent me to an opthamologist today, who sent me immediately to the hospital to see a neuro-opthamologist (a specialty I didn't even knew existed until today). I have to go back for more tests tomorrow - the results will determine whether I then get to spend the next three days in hospital for treatment. Does that suck or what? Nice holiday so far - I'd rather be hooting.

So if I disappear until the weekend - that's where I'll be.

(((Narya))). Hells bells. Hope everything is okay.

Elda, what a boodiful pic!

Okay, here's some Europanya-inspired silliness from Grease. It's all her fault.

Europanya:
Saw Elijah, had me a blast
Saw Elijah, happened so fast
Can’t believe it happened to me
What a boy, cute as can be
In a daze drifting away, ‘cause oh oh, I saw the Eyes

Harem:
Wella wella wella hm
Tell me more, tell me more!
Did you hear the guy speak?
Tell me more, tell me more
cause I’ll swoon for a week

Europanya:
He ran by me, acting the scamp
He was so close, his lip was damp
Dom kissed Leah, she nearly died
I met Astin, I could have cried
It was fun, when it begun but oh, oh I saw the Eyes!

Harem:
Tell me more, tell me more!
Was it love at first sight?
Tell me more, tell me more
We’re all high as a kite!

Europanya:
He played fun games in the arcade
Fans were fizzing like lemonade
When I saw him I was in shock
Could have stood there till ten o’clock
Standing there, floating on air ‘cause oh oh I saw the Eyes

Harem:
Tell me more, tell me more
Did you act like a fool?
Tell me more, tell me more
Cause we’re starting to drool

Europanya:
He got friendly, under my arm
I was struggling so hard to stay calm
He was sweet, I saw his tush!
Oh he was good, I turned into mush
Felt his heat, and it was a treat but oh oh I saw the Eyes

Harem:
Whoa whoa whoa!
Tell me more, tell me more
just how good did he smell?
Tell me more, tell me more
Cause I’m jealous as hell!

Europanya:
Had to leave them, that's where it ends
So I squeed to my internet friends
They all frenzied, yelling out “wow!”
Wonder what he's doing now?
Harem screams, they’re swooning in teams ‘cause, oh, I saw Frodo’s eyes!

Harem:
Tell me more, tell me more!

New peas and potatoes

....what we had with supper tonight ... a particularly hobbit-like meal, IMHO. I think the Squire would have appreciated it very much. If I were willing to share it with anyone ... I believe with new peas and potatoes, I'm rather like most hobbits are with mushrooms ... quite jealous and not interested in sharing!! -- Although I bet Frodo would be able to convince me to share *somehow*

Gorby -- that's a lovely card! How'd you get it?? Inquiring minds want to know!!

Narya -- ((hugs)) -- I hope whatever's wrong is easily diagnosed and addressed, and that you don't lose any more vacation over it! What a bummer!!

Did I mention that the Linden trees were blooming when we were in Wisconsin?? (which leads me to wonder whether with a lot of nurturing, they might grow here too??!!) .... Hubby and I and the friends we were visiting went for an evening walk and my friend commented on what a lovely smell it was, and wondered where it came from. I was very matter-of-fact in explaining that it was linden, from the trees we were walking beneath. Didn't elaborate on how I *knew* it was linden, though!!

Am thinking Anais should definitely go for "hobbit smial" in her decorating for the new apartment -- go on, Anais, look for a nice little handcrafted furniture shop and see if you can find a bed like Frodo's at Bag End!!

Trying not to think 'bout the ComicCon summaries -- Trying not to think 'bout the ComicCon summaries -- Trying not to think about the ComicCon summaries .... I've somehow managed to tell no one about it, other thnn an obviously brief summary for hubby .... But OH!! How awesome. Still excited for those who were able to be there, and especially by Europanya's summary!

[size=1]Strictly speaking Voronwe is right, Cion. But £sd is read as Pounds, Shillings and Pence. In pre decimal money only 1d was called a penny, 6d was sixpence. Probably derived from a contraction of penny piece, ie the coin was a sixpenny piece/sixpence

2d: Tuppence
3d: Thruppence (oh, those lovely, lovely thruppenny pieces I had for pocket money.)

There were 12d in 1s, and 20s in £1. A guinea was 21s

More useless penny trivia: 'Spend a penny' means to go to the restroom. In Public Lavatories the door to each cubicle had to be opened with a penny in the slot.

Raw Footage of the EYES

quote:
Had to leave them, that's where it ends

Ah, but it doesn't end quite there....I just got my footage back from my first camera man tonight and holy hell, there's like ten hours of film to watch. 90 minutes of Elijah, Dom and Sean alone!!!! Oh, I could kiss him for getting all that on film! Screw the documentary, I've got 90 minutes of Elijah!!!!!!!!!! Bouncing, smiling, squealing, running, standing on tables, hugging fans, hugging Sean, Dom, and eyes, eyes, eyes. Help meeeeee.

Anyone for a rough cut screening party?

To clarify, I do not have any footage of my direct backstage experience because cameras weren't allowed in there. But there's plenty of the WETA team doing their thing on digital stills when Leah gets her butt in gear and sends them to me!

I'll post some here when I obtain them.

pssst....I love Grease. That diddy had me peeing down both legs.

90 minutes of footage of them running around the conference? How did you get that? I would have definitely gone if I had known it would be like this! I hope our friend in Northwesternesse got all that too cause she videotapes everything.

Narya, I had a close call with my eyes recently too.....had MRIs to rule out a brain tumor...am still having a problem...and I first noticed it when rereading the Trilogy in January.....but not as serious as yours...well not yet anyway...Many prayers and hugs to you.

Peachy, thanks for the Grease writeup! I expect to hear tapes of that being such at the Hoot!
