Queenie, I saw that announcement the other day, and figured it was a good time to throw some money Moggy's way again. To help pay the rent on BEWTE, you might say.

Hi Angelica!

Maeg - keep it there, I'll read it tonight! I'm doing quick and dirty web access when I should be in the car driving to the Great Family Gathering, Day 1 at my sister's house. Great Family Gathering, Day 2 is at my house tomorrow. House guests do limit internet time.

And just when a Very Hot Day at BEWTE vignette is simmering in my brain.

((((Quiet Harem)))

(((((((Maeglian)))))) I'm glad you're feeling happier. We missed you and I really hope we get to see you again soon. Best look away now, because this is a Hoot check in.

YAY! What a great weekend. (((((Opaline))))) ((((((Ghyste)))))) ((((((Pearl)))))) ((((((Niphy))))))) (((((((Quicksilver)))))) (((((((Aisling+bump)))))) (((((((Marigold)))))) Thank you all for coming and making it so special
The weekend included THE films (of course), PotC, a visit to the Broads National Park, swimming in the sea, a lot of gabbing, eating and drinking. More drinking. And the Frodoll cleavage plunging challenge.

The SUCCOF kept watch over us. he is so much sweeter in real life than in photos. Why did no one tell me how his breeches bulge???????

I still have the lovely Quicksilver staying with me, so I'm not suffering from post Hoot let down yet, but I'm sure that's going to come tomorrow. It's horrid having to say goodbye.

((((((((Queenie)))))))) Thank you, thank you. Squeezy Thigh Fro has arrived safe and sound and had his thighs squeezed repeatedly. I always thought it had taken a haremite to discover that squeezing his thighs made his sword, erm, become erect. Now I discover he was designed and marketed that way! They have NO idea, do they????? What sweet innocence to think there is nothing suggestive about this

((((((Ariel)))))) Thank you again for the DVD. It was much appreciated. That is a stunning picture. We drooled over it after breakfast. I agree with EvFrodo, Frodo looks like he's recovering from some traumatic experience or illness. The nipple makes me think Rivendell, but could equally well be The Field of Cormallen.

KD news:

I've had a great 2 weeks holiday, despite bad sciatica which had the bonus of leaving me with lots of time for fanfic writing. If I'm going to get it finished I'm either going to have to take another holiday or spend less time on line. So if I'm not around as much you'll know why.

Finally, quote of the weekend goes to Pearl:
Me (talking about one bottle of water between 7 of us. Honest. That's my story and I'm sticking to it) : "We're all going to have to share the sucky thing, OK?"
Pearl: "Well, we are the Harem....."

Well, if my KD account stays active and normal after today, I'll be delighted to send something Moggy's way.

Thanks for the greeting, Narya. It's wonderful to be back.

Ah, back home from Ohio and at my own computer. Life is good.

Maeglian, I loved your filk, despite not knowing the tune. Don't forget to post it on the archive. I'm always amazed at your wordsmithing, knowing English isn't your first language. Glad you're feeling better.

Elenya, thanks for the hoot report! Hee hee, you went to (Gabby) Broads National Park That's a good follow-up to Underhill Park and "Hynie" Run. Swimming must have felt very good in all that hot, hot weather over there. Can't wait to see the piccies. You all finally got to meet Quicksilver, too! Very isn't she?

...and Pearl looks like butter wouldn't melt in her sassy little mouth.

I heard the BBC today: 101F in Gravesend! Wow! It's really never been that hot in England ever?? You must be about ready for your private backyard swimming pools! Remember to spend as much time as possible at the mall, the supermarket, and the movies, where it's climate controlled. I'm serious, actually. Takes the stress off your body.

Narya, what happened at the doctor's?

Angelica, you make lurkage sound like being a ghost! Welcome back to corporeal reality!

I know we are not supposed to talk about EW on this site but lets just say I saw him in another very depressing movie today and I am trying really hard to separate him from Frodo.

I have three (well actually four...one duplicate) Frodos now but not this "squeezy thigh" one...which movie is that one for.....I have the TTT Elven cape and sting Frodo , TTT lightup sting Frodo, and ROTK Orc Armor Frodo. I dont' care for the FOTR frodo or the twilight one, so which one am I missing???...what movie is it from?

Ev, Squeezy Thigh Frodo is the FoTR "Sword Action Frodo" I am assuming this is the one you "don't care for."

*grumblegrumble* My internet access is down, has been all weekend, so I can only pop on dial up for a few minutes at a time (dial up costs me by the minute). ALso, I go back to work tomorrow *sigh* What happened to summer? I am so glad I chose education for my career, I love my summers, but gah it is hard to go back!

I need a determined Fro...

It's the FOTR sword-action figure. You squeeze his thighs, and his little sword goes up! I now have one thanks to queenie .

PS, even if anyone didn't want Howard Shore tickets today does not mean I can't get more later. They just may not be right next to us.

I've not seen any buttons yet, though I've asked. But I did see one on ebay already so they must be out somewheres.

I already gave to Moggy last week. Worth every penny.

Welcome back, Angelica!

Elenya. Sounds like you had a great time, despite the heat. Been reading articles about the record heat all over Europe. Sounds ghastly! And I, personally can just *see* and hear Pearl saying that...

Off to read Maeglian's filk... wish I knew the tune....

Feeling somewhat more human this morning... we had a big systems conversion at work this weekend. Was woken up at 2am on Friday with a producton problem. Worked that until 5:15 am. Then had to be up again at 8am because I had conversion tasks that had to be done (at least could do *those* from home) until 10:30. Drove into work at 2pm. Worked until 9pm. Got called 7pm on Saturday to come into work & monitor stuff. System broke at 8pm. Took until 7:30 AM to find what was really wrong & fix it. Had to wake up all sorts of folks for help, including one poor, sweet guy (who knows everything) who was on vacation in Atlantic City. Went home at 9am and crashed. Woke up periodically through the day, but slept *a lot*. Woken up at 7:30 am this morning to re-send some files. But I feel better. Gee, I love my job...

edit: oh, Rosie posted while I was typing. Lovely determined Fropic!

Delurking to say how much I love your drawing Ariel. I think it looks more Field of Cormallen than Rivendell.

Determined Fro is also my bookmark Fro.

He guards my place.

I also gave to Moggy last week.

Hi everyone -

I got to meet Mariole last week in Denver! Thanks for telling me about the Shore ticket frenzy, Mariole. They have BOOKSTORES in Denver. Big bookstores. I finally got the History of LotR volume with the Epilogue (and the drafts of the story of Frodo and Sam in Mordor, including the mention of Frodo bound and naked...). I'm glad I finally have read the Epilogue. I'm still working on the rest of it (I can't believe how little reading I actually get done these days), but one piece of info struck me.

"Thus in December 1946 he was 'on the last chapters' of Lord of the Rings, and hoped to finish it 'before January'; but in 1948 he was drafting the opening chapters of Book VI." So if somebody had been, say, beta-ing the book, Tolkien would have been telling them the book was "almost done" for over a year. And that doesn't count the amount of time after "Choices" was written during which he wrote the Gondor story. Imagine... I have trouble putting down the books and going to bed (even in the wee hours of the morning) when I've been reading the end of Book IV -- I have a habit of reading at least the beginning of "The Tower of CU" first.

It puts all my impatience over fan fic works-in-progress in context. I promise not to hassle Chica, or Europanya, or Mira, or Ariel, or Teasel, or anybody who isn't here or whose stories I've forgotten that I'm reading because I have a 5-minute attention span.

Narya, how are the eyes?

Angelica, welcome back.

(((elanorh))) Hope the Rh stuff goes ok.

Mel

Ariel, what a lovely drawing! I'd try one of my own, but they'd be stick figures with squiggly hair and round eyes.

And then Rosie posts the Bed. The Bed! I can't look at that picture for too long; my corneas burn. Funny, and Frodo's body isn't even in it. (But the blankets! They look like he just got up! And the laundry! And the Treebeard action figure on the nightstand! And all the books, and the darling area rug!) By the way, Rosie, good luck on your first week back. That must be the hardest part of the school year, I would think - readjusting after a whole summer off. Ugh.

I saw a perfume yesterday called "Boudoir." I thought of Frodo.

Jealous of the Brit Hooters, even if it is so hot over there.

Hewene, I hope you're getting some sleep in there somewhere...

New job is going well. New apartment is so sweet. The action figures are settling in well, and I've got my Pierre Auguste Cot painting up, and my framed sketch of Frodo... I'm home. Hopefully I'll be able to get online this week - I'm at my parents' house right now. Today's a holiday in Rhode Island. It's Victory over Japan day. Rhode Island's the only state to celebrate V.J. Day. Free holiday! Woo!

EDIT: Hi, Mel!

Just popping in between sorting myself out after the weekend away and girding my metaphorical loins for a return to work tomorrow

Many thanks to Elenya for letting us bunch of Frodo-loving reprobates invade your lovely home - please give your cats a snuggle from me. It was great to see everyone (even potty-mouth Pearl ) and particularly lovely to finally meet QS.

Angelica: Welcome back & Happy Birthday!
Maeglian: Great filk. We missed you this weekend (and Samantha too)

So...anyone found OA Sam yet?

((Anais))) Good news, and glad you're settling in. If the action figures are happy, everyone's happy.

What is this work stuff they expect me to be doing today? I'd rather be hooting. Or writing fan-fic. Or reading fan-fic. Or stripping wallpaper off my basement. Or sitting in Frodo's lap.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ANGELICA!

We're of the same generation!

I got to see TTT Friday night at an outdoor showing by a lake. Lightning in the distance during Helm's Deep was a nice touch. But, Oh, it made me anxious to see ROTK.

Ariel! Are you an illustrator? That is a wonderful drawing!

Sending healing thoughts your way, Narya. Keep us posted!

Anais: VJ Day. I bet folks of Japanese descent really enjoy that. Until about 10 years ago New Hampshire celebrated a Fast Day that was declared in the 1680s as a day of penance and prayer to save the life of the ailing Royal Governor. It failed, but New Hampshire being full of the ol' manifold sins and wickedness, it was felt to be a good policy. So, Yom Kippur-like, every year we were to regret our sins on our day off from school and work.

Narya, I hope your insurance covers the treatment of manifestations of the Frodo likeness. They may consider it a pre-existing condition, after all.

Happy Birthday, Angelica!

It's been horribly hot here (upper 90's, 100's most of the last month), but we finally got some rain and wind the last two days. *whew*

Re: OAF and OAS

*sheepish look*

I did go to Super Target, as I said I would, and they did have OAF - 1 OAF. I nabbed him up, of course, then started riffling through blue boxes to see if I could find another. I found RoTK Eomer who is absolutely dreamy! And hiding behing a row of Eomers was a lone Orc Armor Sam! I about passed out. I did squeal like a fangurl (ask SSB - he was there, looking horrified )

Bought the three (Sam, Fro and Eomer - there were dupes of Eomer but not the others, alas) home and freed them right away. Oar Armor Frodo and Sam are the CUTEST things I have seen in a long time! I love their costumes and the look very disguised with helmets on. All three i thought were better quality than many of the TTT figures, although I can't get Eomer to slash his sword.

Came up to school today to check out the situation. It is a mess, natch. Computers mixed up, keyboards missing, cables in a tangle (for any who do not know I am a technology specialist at an elementary school). Why must maintenance and housekeeping make my life so difficult, hmmm? It takes me a week just to get all the machines back in the proper rooms and hooked up and renetworked.

Am a little excited about the year starting back, though. It is a tough adjustment, every year, but the beginning of the year *is* filled with excitement all the same, at least at this age level.

Rosie! So glad you got an OAS! *and* an OAF! and Eomer! Talk about hitting it big! I think they are great, and so incredibly detailed... They don't *do* anything, but when they're that cute, who needs them to *do* anything!?

Been hot and humid here. Was so hot Friday I could not get my front door to close after I went to get the mail. It had swollen so bad. Took me *and* my neighbor to finally force it closed. It'll just have to *stay* closed until things cool down a bit...

Cion: re: Mr. G

Well, every once in a while, it actually gets noticed when you kill yourself for work!! I got the following message from the Big Boss in my department about all the crap I went through this weekend:

quote:
I understand you performed exceptionally well this weekend while under the gun to get the FDS issue resolved. Thank you for your effort. Nancy and Cheryl both told me what a wonderful job you did. I appreciate your effort in getting us through the issue. I know that Frank and Bob also played a big role. Team Effort!!! Thanks again. Great Job! ... Appreciate your work. Hope you are getting rested.
'Tis nice to know they notice! Now if I could just get a bonus to go along with the praise...

wow! lots of posts so am not sure who goes with what.

First of all, RosieCotton.., thanks so much for that absolutely awesome pic of Frodo...my heart about stopped beating...have not seen that one before. I notice his cloak is more green in there. I have grey material we are doing to die green....didn't want to get to dark green since that's like his first cloak, not the Fellowship cloak.

But the picture itself is awesome ...is it a poster...and the bookmark? I have never seen that either......I would love a bookmark at least. That pic about took my breath away!

Congratulations Cion on the comments from your boss..those come few and far between.

What state/country is the Supertarget RosieCotton?

Thanks for the info on squeezy thigh Frodo...I just don't care that much for that one....compared to the TTT ones....

--------

Just found Merewyn's bookmark on ebay...sounds like they were only distributed from Australia. Merewyn are they easy to get down there? I hate to wait six days for the bidding to end.

Thumbs up

~*Happy Birthday, Angelica!*~

Nice to see you back! Angelica is the lady who made a post last January (2002) on old Imly that got me to thinking the thoughts that led to "Guardians." And you're definitely of Patricia's and my generation.

Hewene, way to go! At least they noticed....

Wish I'd been at the Brit Hoot. I'd have been laughing till my sides ached. Sorry it has been so hot over there, though! I'm glad you all had such a grand time. When Haremites get together, is there any other kind?

Moving-in hugs to (((ANAIS)))

Hope-it-is-okay hugs to (((NARYA))) (Having worked in a radiology facility, I'd say the techs were probably tut-tutting about the quality of the images they took, not the weird ominous things they thought they saw on them, if that's of any comfort)

Back-to-school hugs to (((ROSIE))) -- brrr. Those three words, "back to school," still give me a sinking feeling and a chill, after all these years.

Mel, you've captured the really bummer thing about writing stories--they take so much less time to read than they do to write!

Hewene, that's fantastic! Congrats on the big warm fuzzy! If they only knew how the workin' joe loves a little scratch behind the ears sometimes...

You rule!

Maybe you'll see the nice green part of the warm fuzzy at year end?
