Just a quick post to say what a brilliant time I had at the Hoot this weekend. (((((Hooters)))))) You're all such great company I was really sad I had to leave early on the Sunday and missed out on the beach The weather was perfect and Elenya was a wonderful hostess I'll never forget those beautiful dragonflies in the reed beds.

AIF is still looking somewhat flushed after his encounter with Pearl's cleavage. He's come back a changed Hobbit - I'm sure he has a glint in his eye which wasn't there before.

Lovely Haremite Quicksilver gave me a little daffoldil brooch so that I could spot him from across Elenya's best parlour.

Wow, Peach, an appearance in Frodo Hill! What an honor! And no one more deserving. (And do let me know when you've got your LJ going. )

MrG! We almost got you a "Geoffrey" hat during the road trip, but they only had child-size. Nice you get to watch the real thing on telly though.

Watched a bit of LotR specials on tape last night... *sigh* the love... it's still there. I just adore everyone involved in these movies and this story. ((((Tolkien, Lewis, PJ, Elwood, entire cast and crew, Richard T, Bob S, oh just everyone!))))

You can order them here OA Frodo at amazon.com and here OA Sam at amazon.com But, surprisingly, the dates here now say they will be shipped Sept. 15th 2003. Previously, this said August 10th! Not sure what's going on. They must have used up all their stock on Target....

I don't know if you can order from amazon.com from outside the US, but I've ordered from amazon.co.uk with no problems, so I don't see why you shouldn't be able too...

Lily!!!!! Just a warning! Before you go installing all those updates, be sure and backup your "Favorites" files!!! (Are you using Internet Explorer?) I applied one of the updates, and it wiped out my Favorites Link list. Luckily Windows XP has a lovely backout feature, so I backed that puppy out, and saved off my Favorites. Iffen you need help with that, just let me know!

Oh, and Lily! Thanks! Gifty smells wonnerful. I'm sure I and the Squire will be able to think of many good uses!

Glad all you Brits had such a good time Hooting. I, like Chica, want to see the frotographic proof of Pearl's triumph and Accomplishment. Elenya, did you think to look in certain Haremites' suitcases for your pillowcase? Hmmm? Just wondering...

Hmmmm hope I get Letter the Fourth read before *all* the jokes are spoilered! ! Sounds as good as Letters 1-3.

Glad I could help anyone with that virus thing. What a pain. I think it might have been PC out the window time if that had happened to me!

Oh, and Meryl, I believe Howard Shore is doing the soundtrack for PJ's "King Kong", too!

Peachy, let me know if you still need a lj code! I'd be happy to oblige!

Has anybody run across the smaller action figures? I was in my Target, and they didn't have the normal size action figures, but they did have these little figures about 3" high, in ice-blue colored boxes. They are clearly meant for acting out LotR scenes. There's an Attack at Weathertop set (F/S/Wiki), a three-Nazgul set, sets of Orcs with various weapons, a warrior of Rohan set (Eomer/Eowyn/random guy), and various individuals (Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas) mostly on horseback.

I was rather taken aback. I hadn't heard of those little guys.

I cannot wait for the day when I can meet you ladies.. you have no idea how much you are helping me.. I am not at the time able to do very much.. but comeing here and listening to you all makes me feel like I have company in the room..

I think that it is the most wonderful sharing that I have ever had.. and there is a warmth here that I canna express.. thank you

someone gave me a frod action figure from Fotr.. they had bought it for their child and it was being ignored.. poor thing.. she thought I would like it.. so it makes my second action figure........my first was Aragorn from FOTR.. I figure that aragorn can help protect him...

he needed alot of comforting.. it was it seems somewhat like being in the tower.... he was alone and cold and frightened... but now he is rescued.. and that is a good thing.. though he has been asking about Sam .. I have no answers to give him.. I canna find a Sam in all of Eugene.. in fact so far the only figures that I can find at my local stores are ... Orcs......

can you imagine how many frodo figures are out there in the hands of the uncaring.. it makes me shudder to think of it..

Erendis, those smaller ones are made by PlayAlong - part of the new Armies of Middle Earth figures that just came out in July. Unlike the Toybiz figures, there are play sets that go along with these - Helm's Deep, battering rams, etc. I've been able to get the figures, but haven't found the play sets yet. I will most certainly keep looking.

My Frodo from the little Weathertop set has the cutest little face!!

Yesterday, while doing the regular Tuesday Toys 'r Us run, I was flipping through the Light-up-Sting Frodo's (which I already had) when one positively leapt out at me - he has the most amazing face I've seen on an action figure! I couldn't leave him behind, so he's now an Office Frodo.

No results back yet on the medical front.

It has been so hot here I can barely stand it, with no relief at all, even at night. And I'm preparing my basement for new carpet and paint, which means a massive clean-and-sort, moving furniture, stripping wallpaper off the walls, etc. etc. I have no A/C. The heat sucks. . But it will all be worth it in the end.

Score!!!!!

Got my first button! An Aragorn. Only one of the four stores I went to at lunch had buttons in yet, but it's a start!!

And Blockbuster had this amazing large multi-panel poster of Aragorn et al in the fields of Rohan. Blew me away. Someone else had already spoken for it, but you all might want to keep your eyes out for one, as it would make a truly wonderful collector piece. And if you don't have room for it, I'm sure I could make room.

I'm beginning to think I should be looking for a peasant blouse for the hoot next year. I'd hate to miss out on the bosom-plunge just because I wasn't properly dressed for the occasion!!!

I rearranged Tolkien Central in light of all my hoot loot. Bilbo, MF, MF2, Light-Up Sting Frodo and Orc Armor Frodo are all enjoying their own shelf (plus cushy furniture and tea set) above my computer, along with Chica's vintage LotR books, teeny cardboard SUCCOF and the Argonath.

The Virus came back last night. I have firewalled and patched and I'll be extremely peeved if it returns.

It's an honour being in Frodo Hill all right - I felt like JK Rowling had phoned me up and asked if she could put me in her next book.

(Once again very belated) Birthday Greetings to Angelica!

(((fin))) Yep: this is the place to be.

I'll have to look for those little PlayAlong figures...I hadn't heard anything official about those, either. So far the local Target and TRU stores have nada...except a few picked over TTT items, which have been there for months ...(Like I can actually afford to buy toys right now anyway... )

Well, I'm off for another week of shows and driving. I'll check in from my Mom's computer if I have a chance.

I have not formally come out of the "CJS Poppet" closet on that thread yet; but I am *so* there... Lordy. First time I saw PotC I was pleased that everyone else was hung up on Will...I figured "Good! Less competition!" I knew there'd be quite a few like-minded gals (and probably a few guys) around here .

I'm sure Frodo won't mind us sailing and dallying with the Captain, as that's a whole different AU...Right? Right?

Cool What a wonderful day!

"So there I was..."

at the mall today. Went into a video store that typically I would never go into (I think there is a "Harem call" that goes out upon the ethers that leads us to places we need to be) and right in front of me is a Lord of the Rings display. Games, lunchboxes, snowglobes, etc. I look at the lunchboxes--no hobbits, so I'm really not terribly interested, though the Fellowship one is on sale.... So I'm perusing and hubby is looking around pushing a sleeping hobbitling in her stroller throughout the store when the salesman (read geek-boy, but super-wonderful-geekboy-who-in-my-Tolkien-geekiness-simply rocks) comes up to me and asks "have you seen the film?" Hubby hears this from across the aisle and almost spits out drink. So, I'm discussing the movie with the salesman and he starts discussing a course on Tolkien he took last fall, and we are chatting and chatting and then "oh, by the way, we were just putting these out, would you like to take a look?" and in this HUGE box (no, don't get your hopes up, no OAF's or OAS's ) he had FOUR boxes of the Helm's Deep Action Set!! Oh joy! Oh happy day! I had gone to pick up a box at Toys'R'Us one day after I had seen them there and they were out of them (much gnashing of teeth that night.) So of course I squee and compare all four boxes and yes the Haldir in this one is perfect but Aragorn isn't as nice as the Aragorn in the other box but I've already got Aragorn in the Aragorn and Brego set and so I've got to go with the best Haldir AND...

taking a breath...

so then when I'm paying I put my five dollars down to reserve my extended DVD coming out in November (put five down now--save ten when you pick it up--yeah, that works for me) and as I am continuing to chat with this stellar human I notice he has A PIN and I quietly ask him "do you have anymore of those pins?" and off to his drawer he goes and asks in a very low voice "who would you like?" and I probably said "Frodo!" a little too loud and enthusiastically because he's supposed to be doing this on the sly but my little body wasn't handling this good fortune very well... so back he comes with THE FRODO PIN and slips it into my bag and I must be shooting off sparks from my entire being and grinning from ear to ear. So we continue chatting and he asks me again in a very quiet tone..."would you like Sam with that?" and of course I couldn't contain myself and squeaked out "yes!" and that was slipped in as well much to the detriment of my heart which skipped about ten beats.

So, I thanked this wonderful person from the bottom of my heart and hubby and I walked out and he looked at me and said "look at you!" because I guess I could not get this stupid grin off my face and I was just in seventh heaven.

After our ride home, I check the mailbox to find a wonderful little something from Hewene and my day was made even MORE heavenly and this day has SOOOOOOO made up for my funkitude last week it's not even funny.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cionaudha, if you want the Queen-of-the-Blue-Funk crown, can I have the Queen-of-the-run-on-sentence crown? It's really my specialty.
{{{Narya}}}-thinking of you!
Erendis--yes, I've seen those. The only one I purchased was the Frodo/Sam/Ringwraith one. Very cute! Let me know if you can't find Frodo--happy to get him for you!
{{{Brit Hooters}}} Sounds like you had an awesome time! Elenya--are we still a go for December 2004? I hope so! I am dying to meet more of my British and European sisters!
Peachy in "Frodo Hill"? Must go read!
By the way, if anyone is thinking of getting the Argonath snow globe--DON'T DO IT. The faces in the boats have nothing more than black dots on them. South Park characters have more artwork than these things. I was shocked these got past quality control and were approved. They are just dreadful.
Finny--how wonderful of you! A true Frodo-rescue! I can probably get you a TTT Sam--let me know if you want me too. I've seen plenty still here.
Hewene--thank you thank you thank you--for everything! :
Spork--sorry to hear that your parents didn't take your hooting well. Let us know if there's anything we can do. {{{Spork}}}
Off to go stare at my stuff.
Moving on because I haven't had time to do much of any reading this vacation, I will at least wish Angelica a happy birthday (I am always late with these things...)
And Narya, I should have known you'd be the first button-slut to score!
So far, the best I've gotten is one video store geek-boy who said if I ask when I come in to get my TTT DVD, they could give them to me on *that* day, but not before. But then, as I was leaving he kind of mumbled "maybe I can leave a note..." So there is *some* hope! Fingers and toes crossed!
The Armies of Middle Earth figures are tiny, but not bad. So far, I've also only gotten the Frodo/Sam/Wraith one. I have not opened it yet. Trying to save it as a treat for myself for this weekend.
Steroid injection in back on Friday . Turns out evil chiropractor bruised the nerve in my lower back. Numb toes, stiff hip, and cannot move the big toe on my left foot. Hopefully, injection will encourage it to heal (nerves are not eager to heal all by them lonesome, and need some encouragement!) Shouldn't hurt much (didn't *last* time I had one, for a different ailment) but leaves me house-bound and unable to sit for long periods of time for a couple of days. So I'm storing up fanfic and treats for myself....
Congrats to Lily! Sigh. Wish there were geek boys around here; I've never met one, especially not the kind that can slip me merchandise I guess I need to start haunting Blockbusters.
I'm sorry your mum's mad at you, Spork I hope you come out of it without being disowned! My mum's rather like that . . . I didn't even bother asking; she's one of the opinion that all people online are axe-murderers, and I can't really sneak off to Kansas City unnoticed.
Agh for Narya's non-airconditioned basement It's hot enough here WITH air conditioning. And glad you got your first button
I finally got to see POTC, due to the relentless efforts of my Legolas AND Captain Jack fancier cousin. I did love his mannerisms, but I'm really a one-fictional-character girl. Frodo . . .
I really, really hope so, but the cinema can't get their act together. 3 times I've been to see the manager personally and 3 times he's promised to email me with yes/no and prices. Seems like the under manager I spoke to first time was a) too quick to say yes and b) gave me too low a price. He keeps telling me it will be *expensive* and I keep telling him to give me a cost and *I'll* be the one to decide if it's expensive or not. So far nothing. I'm going to spread my net to the other multiplex in the city.
Lily, congratulations on the buttons. Couldn't you have explained you have these friends.......
I just found the little figures today too when I went to get two more OA Frodos for friends (and a second for myself) at Target. The faces are slightly different...the first one I have has the best face...some he looks sadder than others.
So Narya I hear you about the face just jumping out at you. I actually now have two of two Frodos in case i ever get to working again and can have them at work....right now I have two on my nightstand and the others with the rest of the figures.
I had to leave one Frodo behind in the store tonight...he wasn't in the best of shape though. I felt bad leaving him all by his lonesome but I had what I needed plus the bonus of miniature Aragorn on horseback. They have pictures of the others on the back of the box but they were very small. Is there a link to these? I'd like to see the Weathertop scene. And It looked like there might be one with "Dernhelm" and Merry on a horse.
Hewene, I hope you feel better soon. Hugs to you...I understand all about nerve and muscle pain.
Where do you get the pins?
Erendis--yes, I've seen those. The only one I purchased was the Frodo/Sam/Ringwraith one. Very cute! Let me know if you can't find Frodo--happy to get him for you!
Lily! Good for you on the button.....and you say the smalll Weathertop scene is good? Do you have a pic or a link. I just got the Aragorn and love him..the look on his face is incredible. If you can get him easily, I would be interested but I'd like to see a picture first.
And I have a OA Sam that I may or may not keep that I got tonight along with the Frodos...I don't have any Sam figures and would like one but this one looks so similar to Frodo that it was put with the other Frodo figures being held for me. Its just that I have to watch my $$$ cause there are so many ROTK figs to come...and now these little ones are very impressive too.
Hmmm...just looked at the back of the Playalong box that I got the Aragorn in and don't see the Weathertop scene. I'll see if they have a site. If the faces are nice and it looks well done I'd *definitely* be interested.
Anyway, if I decide not to keep my OA Sam, I'll certainly put out the word here!
---------
LILY - I found the Sam/Frodo/Ringwraith on line but its impossible to really tell until you see them "in person"...the look on Aragorn's face is just amazing...Plus, at Target they are only $6.00 so I may just keep an eye out for one here....
No sign of any OAFs or OASs here yet. Just lots of Gollums that must have been put out for the DVD release.
Out shopping tonight just *happened* to come across, with the magnetic pull that Frodo images have on Haremites, Feisty Fro with the Phial outside a jewellery shop. But what is a 'UV action ultra glow ring'? Anyway it was available there. The mind boggles.
Can't say for sure about my own poppet credentials as we're still waiting for PotC here.
What a great day you had Lily. What pic is on the Frodo pin. Is it as gorgeous as the one last year? Enquiring minds you know.
Here's some pics of the Weathertop Play Along pack. Frodo, Sam and Ringwraith...
And here's the image for this year's Frodo promo pin. Not nearly as lovely as last year's but still nice!
Ev, I can't believe you keep getting OAF's and OAS's at Target! Lucky you!
Elenya, want we should do something about that cinema manager? We's could talk to him... Must have birthday gathering! Must!
