Umm...I don't think anyone's said it yet, but I'm pretty certain that Frodo is lying on his back in that picture. Don't you think? Of course that may have been obvious to all the rest of you! Good lord though, how do they make him look so gaunt?? This movie WILL be the death of me.

Oh, Meryl! Go for it! Euro, send it! send it!!! It's frickin' hilarious and brilliant!

So being a button slut finally paid off today. Not a Fro, but I scored a Sam pin! I went into the video store, and the two employees were *wearing* Legolas and Aragorn pins... I asked if they were giving any away, and the guy very firmly said that they had to wear them, and couldn't give them away until the movie came. I said, "Next Tuesday, then?" And he chuckled and said "I guess you're a real fan of Lord of the Rings." I nodded geekily and said "Yes, and it's become a bit of a quest to find these pins... no one has them. Especially Frodo or Sam..." He looks at me, fishes in a box behind him and holds up a Sam pin. "Samwise Gamgee?" he says. "Yes!" giggle I. And he hands it over. I smile more, he smiles, I thank him profusely, and a happy geek walks out the door. Girl behind the counter just kind of watched the whole thing amusedly. I fully realize I have no pride left where LOTR is concerned, but as a full-fledged geeky button slut, I tell myself "well, DUH!" But you have a Sam pin!

Vermont. Sigh... I had loved it so much before, but now it is especially meaningful to me, as I'm certain I won't be able to do much this weekend without laughing at all the wonderful Harem memories that will come bubbling up.

Hewene--you go girl! I'm afraid that with the exception of last week's one notable success, I've been coming up dry pin-wise. People have been absolutely curt in their responses to me when I ask them about the pins--apparently, someone at New Line got their panties in a twist last year about how the pins were being given away and they don't want any more of that. So today I bit the bullet and went eBay and hope to have my set next week. Last year was so much fun stopping here and there, picking up this one and that one--this year my experience overall has NOT been fun and I really have little more desire to continue. I hope the rest of you can find more personable people than the majority of the ones I've had to deal with (with the exception of GeekBoy from last week--oh GeekBoy, our time together was too short...)

I have a planeload of relatives showing up tomorrow. They're staying with me. House looks like whoever lives here spends most of her time either at work or outside, coming home just long enough to track mud, dog hair, and dirty dishes. So I figure the best use of my time is to ignore it like I always do, and talk with you guys instead, and watch the Gregory Peck-athon on TV.

Pins: I saw a woman with a FRODO! one today at Walmart. Naturally lost my head. Hared over to the electronics section, and they said they didn't even have them Gits. I don't suppose I could have bribed her to part with it . . . probably not, considering I only have 10 dollars. Sigh.

Having stared at this image for entirely too long today it's been suggested to me via another list that our dear Frodo has something far more delicate than spilled water down his chin. Could they perchance be a certain hobbit companion's tears? In which case if this is true...then...Frodo might very well be...eeeeps! His eyes are looking a little dull. I read somewhere that they put in these "dulling" contacts for Elijah to wear in a certain "key" scene. Seeing as final digital color editing has not yet been performed on ROTK, I do believe we're seeing the contacts which leaves me with only one conclusion:

Somebody's gonna be closing those eyes.

Maybe New Line should put a warning label on it's ads. *Warning: viewing may cause heart palpatations or breakage.* And I'm sure the movie theaters could have boxes of kleenex near the doors to hand out to fans entering the theater, not to mention EMS standing by.

Euro, since Meryl mentioned that The Picture (sob) follows a pan-up from Frodo's neck with the Ring chain cut into it, I'm thinking this may perhaps happen later in the story than Choices?

The water drops..... I was thinking tears too, but for one moment I admit I was thinking "haremite tears" !

My best guess is that he's lying down and Sam has fed him some water, like was suggested above.

I still love that picture. And the other angsty Sam one. This film is going to be..... heartwrenching.

My office network was hit with a virus that spreads via e-mail, attaching itself to random addresses in the Outlook address book. Some of you here are in my work e-mail address book, so if you receive anything from me with a title like "Details," "Your Application" or "Wicked Screensaver," IT IS NOT FROM ME. DO NOT OPEN IT! This only affected my work e-mail, my Hotmail addresses were unaffected.

Nivina, that pic makes me nervous...doesn't that look vaguely like...Sam????

Elda - I can see what you mean, but I really think that's Frodo. You can't get too good a look, but I don't think it's Sam.

Merewyn - I thought the same thing...especially due to its placement in the slide show. If that really is after Shelob, and if these pics are in any kind of order, then Shelob looks to be almost toward the end of the film! Although I suppose that could be the case, I would think the confrontation would be more toward the beginning or early middle.

Plus, you have to remember that Frodo still has his cloak on during the confrontation with Shelob and when Sam prepares his 'body.' He's got it on in all the other shots from Shelob's Lair, so where is it in these two pics?

I, personally, think those two shots are as Merewyn said and the one of Sam is him looking down at Frodo as he begins to crawl - right before Sam picks him up to carry him. But I suppose we'll all see in December.

SPOILER DISCUSSION:

I've got to say, I'm not sure what you guys are seeing, but that very blurry picture Nivina attached looks like PJ to me. Baggy greyish T-Shirt sleeve hanging off his outstretched left arm, beard around the mouth, possibly even headphones. There is a picture that shows PJ demonstrating a stance to Sean that looks somewhat similar:
