Frodo (grimly): This is The Harem. You’ve seen them before, haven’t you? Get up now or they’ll cut your throat!

(The Harem step forward. The Exec gets to his knees slowly, a piteous wail forming in his throat.)

KER-SPLORRRRRRRTTTTTT!!!

Brilliance, Meryl. Sheer brilliance.

Action figures!

quote:
Euro, congrats on the OA Sam! Actually bought at WalMart! Amazing. I must admit, I never thought of cuddling OAS and OAF. Shame on me. I did, however, notice the nicely molded buns and bulge *under* the chainmail. (Oi! Don't ask)...

And didja also notice how much WIDER Sam's legs can spread than Frodo's and that Sam seems to be carrying a bit more 'pots 'n' pans' under that chainmail than Frodo? And don't Frodo's buns look a bit, well, softer?

Shame on me. SHAME!

Of course I keep finding the lads posed into all sorts of amazing positions courtesy of my all-innoscent-looking husband who claims to be blissfully unaware of all things slashy. Yeah, right. Unless, my figures DO have minds of their own. In which case I've got to ask them about the spead eagle maneuver I caught them in after my shower this AM.

Did I mention how HAPPY my Fro is now? He could care less if he's headed to Mordor now.

Will get back to Fro-swooning soon ..

But Elda is right ..There is a massive computer virus being spread via email. And for some reason lots of us whose emails are on some kind of LOTR site are getting our inboxes flooded with the thing . I got over 50 since last night. DO NOT OPEN THE ATTACHMENTS THAT COME WITH THEM!!!! It helps to check for full headers though and see what the IP code is. ALL mine came from ONE IP code. This doesn't mean that is the person actually sending them though. The hacker who is really sending them get's into that person's email if the attachment is opened and the virus starts sending out more messages via that person's email.

Here is the news story about this bug.

Hobmom and elda, yes, you are both correct. Watch out folks, big ass virus doing it's thing. So far, that virus has only hit my work email address, but luckily, our work email caught and scrubbed the virus from all 235 email messages that I got from email addresses in my brothers' address book. You have to be SO CAREFUL these days. At least it doesn't do any *damage*, it's just EXTREMELY annoying!

The good news is, according to the article Hobmom linked to, the virus expires on Sept. 10. Oi.

Euro, you hubby sounds like fun. And Ghyste, I'd join you in the OAF/OAS posing, but since I'm at work, I'd be afraid who'd see them. It's one thing for people to accept they're on my desk... but in *THAT* condition??!

Holy crap! According to Bunnie Bugs in the Faculty, that angst pic of Fro, including bloody neck, is the new official teaser poster for RotK. Go look!

Oh crap, it's all x-ed now. Let me go looking...

EDIT: A-ha. There are five new ones, like the Aragorn pic. Torn's got them all. Click on them for bigger resolution...

http://www.theonering.net/scrapbook/group/937

p.s. virus. Ah, would that be Outlook "virus magnet" Express again? When the IT people put XP on my laptop at work I threatened them with death if they put Outlook anywhere NEAR my computer.

I have seen it (thanks for the link, Erendis).

The "teaser" poster. The bloody neck. OMG. OMG. OMG. OMG.

What a harrowing image for a poster. Good GOD.

I'm too moved to frenzy. I mean, really, I'm shaking.

I'll just be on heavy meds until December.

(OK, Tiny Frenzy: I've just spent ten minutes staring at that image and he looks like hell but he's still so beautiful. He's still so frigging beautiful it hurts. Really. It hurts. Oh. My. God.)

Oh, you're so right... it hurts! I've never imagined that a pic could move me to tears and leave me broken, but this one does.

Thanks for posting the link, Erendis.

Having stared at this image for entirely too long today it's been suggested to me via another list that our dear Frodo has something far more delicate than spilled water down his chin. Could they perchance be a certain hobbit companion's tears? In which case if this is true...then...Frodo might very well be...eeeeps! His eyes are looking a little dull. I read somewhere that they put in these "dulling" contacts for Elijah to wear in a certain "key" scene.

I don't know how I will be able to bear it. I thought they looked a bit like tears too ... and the blood on his neck *sob*

He has the most pitiful expression imaginable. Oh our poor sweet baby!

Now I am going to look more closely at his eyes ... had not heard about "dulling" contacts but it figures ....

Well, I've walked around the room some and collected some stuff from the car, and finished going crazy, and have now come back to look, and look some more, at that poster.

It's true: Despite it all, he's still so very beautiful. How *can* that be?

I don't feel like swooning, or squeeing..... I just look at that silently, - and my heart hurts.

And all that because of something I somehow rationally *know* is a poster advertising the mega blockbuster movie of the year, featuring the top billed actor in movie makeup! In a way, that is so very surreal.

I'm not supposed to be here, I'll be called back to work any second -- but who can resist the Squire looking all draggled and gorgeous? No one looks that good, not even on Oscar night. It's got to be the bone structure. And the skin. And the muscle. And the soul...

Just wanted to thank Meryl Marie for the delightful field trip to New Line, and Europanya for a huge laugh over the "spreadeagled maneuver." How can molded buns "look" soft? Anything cooking with those pots and pans?

Gak, phone rings. Must run. Keep it up, Harem!

Where's Ariel? She hasn't sounded quite right these days. I hope all this angst cheers her up. (yeah I know that sounds counterintuitive, but, come on, it's Ariel. )

What a harrowing image for a poster.

You got that right. It's harrowing enough to really give me hope about RotK. After Fellowship came out, I blathered on for months about how risky the acting in FotR was, where all the actors showed love for each other...(I guess you all remember it.) Whereas TTT didn't have nearly the risk or emotion. And the official posters reflected that. The TTT posters were all obviously posed promo shots, people in pretty costumes with swords and honorable facial expressions. In other words, standard sanitized fantasy fare.

The first RotK poster with Aragorn was very well composed, but it was still bloodless and heroic.

But.. THIS poster! And don't forget the one with Sam and Frodo, notice the higher resolution. Of course, we're fans, but please think about the general public here. What movie theatre owner is going to put THAT up in his hallway, high resolution, backlit, 27 inches by 40 inches high? Would you want kids skipping merrily out of movies like Freaky Friday and Finding Nemo to be confronted with Bloody Frodo? This is mighty brave of New Line to be releasing this as an official poster. If theatres were to put this up, New Line would be risking box office,* because really, if you don't know the story, would YOU go see this movie? Even horror movie posters are more restrained with their gore.

But...I have to marvel at New Line's courage here. It reminds me very much of the risky emotion of FotR, to risk box office with these images. If New Line is willing to take chances on making THAT an official image, backlit in high resolution 27 inches by forty inches high, imagine what they will let PJ do with the RotK trailer, not to mention RotK itself.

------------
*I do give credit to New Line for releasing FIVE posters at once, probably so theatres owners can choose which poster to put up. I'm sure we'll be seeing plenty of Gollums up in the googleplex hallways, and never see Bloody Frodo. However, it's still pretty couragous of New Line to do this.

You're right Maeglian - its a complete mystery. To be in such a dreadful, pitiable state and yet still exude such beauty - just amazing. And thanks for posting it Hobmom - but the effect its had on me is quite shattering - how I'll survive this movie I really do not know

If anything I HOPE it's to set the tone for the film. From what I keep hearing, this is only a taste of what PJ will deliver in December.

::Falls to knees and prays to graphic image of Ring-tortured Frodo-as-desktop pattern.::

And now that I've seen the full image in poster form online, he does appear to be upright, wind blowing hair back, since the Ring appears to be responding to gravity. I stand corrected, but not really standing very well. Meep!

Maeglian, you are just going to have to lose that particular grip on reality. Definitely. It's not doing you any good. That is *not* a poster with an actor - that's Frodo, in agony. Sheeee! Go with it, girl!

Ariel, if that poster doesn't up your angst meter big time, I'm putting you on my prayer list.

Seeing these pics just blow me away... I'm so glad EW is Frodo in these movies... I was so worried at first, but now... Yeah. LOL

OH...MY...GOD!!!

I was NOT prepared for the impact of that picture as a poster! It is too beautiful to even BEGIN to describe. It looks like an exquisite painting.

To anybody who is avoiding picture spoilers: Don't cheat yourself out of seeing this now. Life is just too short.

And for a moment he lifted up the Phial and looked down at his master, and the light burned gently now with the soft radiance of the evening-star in summer, and in that light Frodo's face was fair of hue again, pale but beautiful with an elvish beauty, as of one who has long passed the shadows. ~ The Two Towers

I'm completely with shilohmm on this one, if I am reading her correctly.

I don't care who thinks I'm cracked--this is a pure case of channeling going on here.

We are having this reaction because--

THIS-------------IS------------------FRODO.

The essence is all there...as far as I'm concerned Elijah Wood's soul went out on an astral field trip and Frodo stepped in. I personally see no other explanation.

Wrenching, agonizing, emotionally pulverizing....... Isn't that the way ROTK is supposed to be? I sure hope so!!!! Of course it moves on to the bittersweet ending. Everyone succeeds in their part of the quest...But at what horrific cost?

I think that poster conveys exactly what ROTK should be.

Please, PJ! Please, let it be that way!!!!

EW... Nostril actor extraordinaire!
The crew begins to break up and Elijah looks over at Dom and gets this little minx grin and says "I'm going for it!"And to everyone's shock leaps out of the curtain and sprints down the convention concourse as fast as his little legs can carry him (which is
damn fast) whooping with glee while three security guards all in black race after him followed by the entire line of screaming fans. Elijah, essentially escaped. 'A Hard Day's Night'? No. Lij at ComicCon.

"But the enthusiasm of the fans is great though. And I'll thank the lord if they are female and originate from Spain!" Elijah in Spanish interview
