Angelica, do you have an address where we can mail NLC that it would get to the right people?

EvFrodo, I'm guessing the best place to start is visiting the official website. I was going to go there next, but it's 4am, and I need to get to bed before I go to work at 10. I wish I could give you better info than that. Maybe someone at TORn has info. Those folks seem to have a good rapport with the NL people. The only thing I remember is that Gordon Paddison has been the NL rep for fielding stuff on the net. He actually reads all the e-mail from the fans. Harry Knowles, over at AICN may have a link to NL, too.

The operative word here is "right people." The risk-and-courage concept is familiar to us, but even discussing it takes a little courage. I don't want to send a thank-you only to have it fall into the hands of some New Line publicity exec who would not be in the right mind-set to appreciate it.* So I wonder, who at New Line (probably multiple people) greenlit this poster? I doubt it's any of the NZ crowd, and I've heard that PJ doesn't have a close handle on which pictures are marketed. Maybe Mark Ordesky? Shoot, who was that lady marketing exec they hired? I heard they hired her just after FotR came out and suddenly the quality of the Frodo publicity posters improved (better Camera Angles, less hobbit feet)...surely she had a hand in this poster campaign somwhere.

----------
*And I have to say that, judging from TTT, IMO there are probably a few execs who would not understand.

Peachy, this is wonderful! *sobs*

((((Ellin)))), please don't think you're unworthy. You aren't.

Ehm... does anyone think my avatar is too "spoilerish"? If so, I'll remove it. I'm asking this because those who won't look at the new ROTK pictures could find it annoying.

I'll send the word.

My friends at New Line's promo department design/produce all the marketing materials, posters, ads, DVDs, you name it. If you guys want to draft a thank you letter, I'll email it to them. They love feedback, actually. They really do.

Let me know what you'd like me to send if an official letter, or I can just call them.

Erm, uh, maybe not spoilerish, but it might confuse folks because I made that my avatar last night.... Sorry. If anyone wants it removed, I'll do so...

I'm still *very* confused about this picture Nivina posted. All I see is a very small, blurry picture of a figure that spoils nothing for me at all. Wonder if I'm not getting the entire picture or something. This is *very* perplexing.

Still staring at that poster. Still amazed.

(((((Ellin)))))) Most worthy!!!! Amazing woman!!!! If you neet to talk, PM me, I've been told I have a good ear.... good luck on whatever course of action you choose

Maybe Europanya could ask one of her NL friends for the "right person's" name to send our poster praise to. Just a thought...

edit: Euro!!! simulpost HS! Cool! I vote for this, oh yes! I'll write it if no one else does, but I think someone like elda or erendis might put it more elegantly than me...

Gladys, good to hear I'm not the only doll perv around here Not that I *really* believed that could be true

Peachy. Magnificent as usual. wibble wibble

And a side note. Apparently there is a *new* variant of that "blast" virus out there this week, so be sure that if you have Window XP or NT that you install the security patch from Microsoft that I posted a few pages back. If anyone needs me to re-post it, let me know! And if you have virus protection (like Norton) make sure you update it pronto! (Most have "Live Update" features).

Ooops. Sorry Hewene, I wasn't aware of this. I've created an icon for my LJ yesterday from the teaser poster, and changed my avatar here just about a few hours ago. I didn't see you changed yours, too. So I should be the one to remove it...

SPOILER POSTER DISCUSSION, if anyone is still unspoiled here...

People, I understand too well: angst, beauty, and such... But I cannot believe nobody mentioned yet that Fro's shirt is open 3 buttons down, and it is a full frontal, not just an angle shot like in Bilbo-Ring-Rivendell scene!! Yohoo!!

I now return you to the regularly scheduled intellectual discussion

((((Harem))))

Edit: (((Ellin))) good luck.

Nivina - re. SPOILER PIC- it looks distorted in dimensions. Hair color looks like Frodo's, but face is too wide, so it looks like Sam's. I do not think it is PJ, and shirt seems like The One Shirt, only very loose. Could it be a distorted (stretched too wide) shot of Frodo, who's got very thin and exhausted? Why is he walking with that silly posture?

Red face Post and Run!, and full of Exclamation Points!!!

Goldie--I've been quoted in a sig!! How cool!

Lily revels in the warm fuzzies.

Nivina and Hewene--I think you should both keep them! They are slightly different--one is darker I think, And I think we can tell you apart.

I vote for Hewene to write our praise to the folks at New Line!

Hurray for the Harem having an "in" with New Line! Kisses to Europanya not only for that but for being such a great all-around (and ridiculously lucky and talented) Haremite!

Peachy!!! Woman, you are going to kill me.

Ah well, gotta go sometime.

Where's Anais? Last I knew she was going to check out THE POSTER.

I hope she's okay!

Tata! An "unspoiled" Haremite? Not bloody likely.

Mariol--LOL! Michelangelo will have to consider himself to be perpetually at the back of the line. Haremites always come first!

Yep, that's why I expected a full Harem frenzy over it. Not to mention that lovely long neck and the angle of it and... Er, nevermind. Actually, the anguish in his face keeps drawing my eye back up anyhow. And if there wasn't a serious Harem frenzy over it, what was posted works, too. I'm not about to complain about profound angst appreciation!

Oh, and Lily, you understood me right - I looked at that poster and that actor guy name of Elijah Wood never even occured to me. Stunner poster, just sums up the angst of Frodo for me.

Peachy, you are trying to kill me, aren't you?

Yesterday I washed walls for 11 hours, trying to get the last of the wallpaper paste off as I had painters arriving today. Funny thing was, every time I thought I was too exhausted and too sore to continue, that picture flashed into my mind, and I thought...pshaw...this is nothing!

Now there is a strange disconnect in my mind, as the new beautiful blue color is transforming an entire floor of my house, and next week I have new carpets and furniture coming, and it will all be fresh and new and clean and wonderful...and superimposed over it all in my mind is that picture.

Weird, how much it has affected me. No matter what I look at, I still see it in my mind. It's that powerful an image. It's the embodiment of pain and sacrifice, and it has profoundly touched me.

Oh God. He just looks soooooooo divine even though he is suffering so terribly. Suffering makes him look even more beautiful if that is possible. Such beauty is unbelievable. And ooooh, the buttons open, with his poor sore neck that badly needs kissing, and bathing, and tending .... and his ladies to gently remove that filthy shirt, and make him feel better. Wash him with lavender soap, and dab that poor wound with some tea tree oil ... then kissed better.

Please forgive me, I have had a rotten day and am on my second glass of wine whilst I am cooking pasta bolognese. I NEED the wine badly - don't drink very often but when I do, only a couple of glasses, ooooohhhh it does me good and the perversions flow!!!

Now .... I didn't get any cheesecake ingredients after all. Shall just have to use my imagination. Yep it will have to be chocolate. Biscuit base with choc cheese mixture, made with real dark chocolate, several big slabs of it ... mixed with lots of double cream and real butter ....oooh the cholesterol but ooh the ecstasy as I spread the mixture over the Squire .....

Ready for action Haremites?????

Europanya to the rescue once again!!!!

I think it's fantastic that she can get our VERY IMPORTANT imput to NL so easily. Who but his Harem knows what is best for Frodo's film?

Yes Euro- Whatever else you tell them, tell NL that the Suffering Frodo poster is the most powerful and beautiful and inspiring thing we have ever seen. That it does full justice to the spirit of the Trilogy as written by Tolkien, and that it draws the public's attention to Frodo without whom there would be no story. And to Elijah who deserves an Oscar just for that one picture alone.

Should we do a group letter to send through Europanya and have one person write it and then indicate all our "signatures". Or should we each do one individually. I'd prefer the former but the latter might make more of an impact. Plus, if they find out we are a group called "Frodo's Harem" I don't know if that would discredit us.

What she said.

I'm just finishing packing up for Vermont --we leave in a few hours, and I won't be back on-line (I think) until Monday morning. With that said, as I was packing I came back to my computer and printed out a color copy of THE POSTER as a 4x6" color photo just so I could have it with me.

(((Lily))) Have fun!

Re: a letter to New Line. I think it would be best to get one or three people to write it and send it as the sentiments of an on-line group rather than from "Frodo's Harem" - as we all know, getting used to that concept usually means getting to know the group here.

Minor Spoilers ahead!

I have it! I have the precious!! I have swooned and goosebumped over the previews of the EE and RotK!! I am dying to do a few screencaps, but my screencapping computer is under plastic right now, and a total stranger is painting in that room...just a few more hours, and I will be able to frame-by-frame myself silly.

The EE looks tremendous, from a book-fan's point of view. So much there to revel in, so much Tolkien!

And the RotK preview struck me as being wonderfully canon, even when circumstances and characters were slightly changed because of changes made in the first two films. And they're all so darn excited and proud about this film!!

I'll take the rest of my babbling about it to the RotK thread, and promise to post any pictures here as links only, to save those who are spoiler adverse.

Is a letter in progress?

I'm having a really crazy virus-induced day (human, not computer) so I'm losing track...who's writing the letter to New Line? I think it's best if we send one letter signed by all of us. Then I can get it to New Line's promo dept before the weekend, or if my plans work out, I might be seeing some of them on Saturday for pizza and beer.

Anyone? Anyone?

Well, Lily nominated me-- I can give it a go, if you want, but I want suggestions from folks! I could post it here, and folks can pick it apart -- uh, I mean make further comments, then I could come up with a final draft. Only question is, how do we sign it? "Frodo's Harem" at KD? "A Community of Online fans?" Individual screen names? Individual real names? Only those who ask? Everyone who's posted recently? I need input here folks!

What do *you* want to say to New Line in response and thanks for this amazing image being made an official poster?

Hewene

Holy crap. I know it's late, but I have just seen the suffering Frodo poster. Lily told me about it, but I did not have the emotional stamina last night to be able to look at it!

I still don't!

I'm going to go drown myself in the shower!

While everybody is pondering Hewenes' question, I'd perhaps like to mention that it's possible to vote for your favourite among the new posters over at TORn. And they've created a poster talkback place there where people can post their comments and reactions to the new posters.

I guess NL follows TORn pretty closely, so will soon see all of that.

(And for anyone thinking that "money talks", the posters are also up for sale now from New Line........)

I want to order the posters, but I don't know where I'll put them! (I was trying to keep posters to only one room in the house... ) And I'm not sure I can handle the Frodo one, anyway - it's of such things that therapy bills are made!

Spoilers!!

First screencaps...someone mentioned either here or in the Faculty that the Shelob's lair one that we'd seen seemed to be just before he saw what was pursuing him. Here is the sequence where he does see...

Turning

Dawning realization

OME!!

Oh, how I worship thee, screencap goddess!

SPOILER TALK - highlight to read

I would be irritated by the thought of Frodo falling over yet AGAIN and screaming like a big girl's blouse yet AGAIN were it not for the fact that this is SHELOB coming up behind him and by Eru who wouldn't bloody scream. Shelob is going to really really really freak me because I am such a severe arachnophobe. I've always found her a horrific monster ...

There is something unearthly about Frodo in these amazing pictures. Unearthly.

Hewene, I'm too tired to think very deeply, but I would just want to thank New Line for such a bold poster showing Frodo's great suffering and heroism: for showing Frodo in his true beauty. With grateful thanks from the Frodo-Fans of Khazad-dum.com.

Howzat?

I don't think it should be signed from Frodo's Harem. It just sounds bloody WEIRD to people who don't know what we're all about. They have to get to know us to understand that while this place IS hormonally charged (ain't no use denying it ), the focus of our devotion is much more than just the physical beauty of Frodo/Frolijah. As is evident from our awed reaction to this graphic image of a suffering, dehydrated hobbit.

On a happier note, I'm always keen to spread chocolate on the Renaissance Angel Hobbit, bagendbabe. Mmm, yum.
